OK,here are my observations.I never was in Vietnam but I know MANY Vietnam vets who DO tell of commiting acts that many of us who stayed stateside might consider rather ugly and cruel.Their justification was that after you see your buddies killed and wounded you are defintely not likely to see the Vietnamese as a people worthy of giving a lot of slack to if there is any question of them being the enemy.
I think there probably WERE some atrocities commited against civilians just as there have been in all wars.That is not to say that the whole Winter Soldier movement didn't have a bigger,New Left agenda to promote but to deny that it happened at all is pretty naive and myopic.

Who said there were zero atrocities?
At issue is whether they were routine or rare, and whether they were in violation of orders or the result of American military policy.
