I would say "rare" would be much more accurate.
Many thanks for the ping,Howlin! :-)
Hey, thanks for the link. Missed that story completely. Loaded and ready to read.
I'd like to point out that not only has Kerry ticked off a few million voters by dissing the National Guard, but has GOT to me ticking off the government's of a lot of foreign countries by dissing the coalition. He's implying that Britain, Japan, Italy, Poland, South Korea, Spain etc aren't "international"....because they aren't France. Some foreign policy. He'd have to deal with all of the countries he's dissed when he sells out sovereignity to the UN. How's he gonna pull THAT off after telling them they're not as good as France?
So that makes millions of soldiers guilty of making ear strings? Guilt by association?
Thank you. I was going to ask him that, changed my post and forgot to add the question.
The decision to stage this defamatory protest against the National Guard - which then comprised 409,412 Army Guard and 89,847 Air Guard personnel - was made in John Kerry's presence and with his full knowledge. Executive-committee minutes for Vietnam Veterans Against the War note that among the six "members attending" a meeting to plan the protest was "John Kerry-NE Rep."
Could it be... here?
Right. He was it's it's principle organizer, Hanoi Jane it's principle FUNDER and they were both at Winter Soldier together...though according to Hanoi Jane they never met because they never shook hands.
These words are crystal clear, leaving no doubt Kerry meant military POLICY as WELL as the whole military:
"I would like to say, representing all those veterans, that several months ago in Detroit we had an investigation at which over one hundred fifty honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to. War crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents, but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command"
"It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit, the emotions in the room, the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam, but they did, they relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do. They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country."
I don't care if you vote Kerry or not. I DO want you to understand the truth; truth you are apparently unaware of.
No one is denying that bad stuff did happen. Calley was prosecuted as were 27 Marines and ninety something soldiers over the course of 8 YEARS of war! Comparatively, in Detroit, Michigan in 1971 there were 690 murders!
The point is that Kerry and VVAW attempted to portray ALL U.S. Soldiers as atrocity committing murderers. The American left and the American mainstream media bought into and then sold the assertion lock, stock and barrel. Their intent was to discredit the US war to free SE Asia. They did this through lies, political theater, distortions and deception. The movies that came later - which never had to portray things realistically - reinforced the image of the Vietnam Veteran as a crazed killer.
To top it all off the policy that the left insisted upon won and then hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, and millions of Cambodians were killed by the NVA and the Cambodians by the Khmer Rouge (a communist backed insurgency) and the hypocrites on the left failed to voice the same outrage, disgust and fanatic opposition that they had to the U.S. military in Vietnam.
Do you get this? The entire Vietnam Veteran facade that you appear to continue to buy into via your posts was a lie! Calley was the exception!

TS
