ANDERSON, IND. -- Sandi Patty has made it big in music. Now she hopes to start small in politics.
The gospel singer filed papers Thursday expressing intent to run for a seat on the Anderson Community Schools board. In the May 4 election, the 47-year-old will challenge Brian K. Kohles and incumbent Keith Millikan.

Now the 47-year old GMA Hall of Fame member is trying something new.
Now could Britney, Christina, Madonna, or any of the MTV Pop No-Talents attempt THIS?

"she and her husband, Don Peslis, " This should read "second husband." She had a 17 month affair with this one before her divorce.

Freepers should be running for the school board, city council and state legislatures all over the country.
But Freepers won't. Don't look at me, I wouldn't vote for me! But there are a lot of FReepers who should run for things like their local school boards.

Well judging from her flock of 7 [?] children and her singing schedule, I don't know why Sandi Patty would want another item on her plate.
To: flying Elvis
yes she has a "blended" family

I wondered about this "husband." I knew she had the affair but didn't know how it turned out.

Looks like it turned out pretty good for her. I don't know how hubbie #1 feels.

Didn't Sandy Patti write: WHO KNOWS WHERE THE TIME GOES? If so, that's one of my favorite songs!

Sandys campaign song:
" I want to teach the KIDS to sing in perfect harmony."

OOPS.. nope...Sandy Denny.Yeah, shame about Sandy Denny dying as she did. Nanci Griffith did a cover of the tune on her Other Voices II CD. It was really pretty good, though i'm more of a Kate Wolf (also deceased) fan.

If you're a fan of female vocalists, as I am, please get yourself a copy of Eva Cassidy's albums. She died of cancer at a very young age, but has the voice of an angel. As I was researching Who Knows Where the Time GOes, I saw that she does a cover of that too. She is wonderful.

Nanci Griffith is horrible, sounds like chalk on a blackboard, and is a semi-socialist wacko, but she can write. My current favorite is a woman named Dar Williams. For some reason, her live work seems much better than her studio work. BTW, Kate Wolf died in 1987 at age 44 from lukemia. Her voice wasn't great, but was described as "healing". The video of her "Austin City Limits" Performance is still available. None the less, thanks for the tip, i'll look into Eva Cassidy.

I know what you mean about Nanci Griffith. I liked ONE song she did, ONCE IN A VERY BLUE MOON. It was her signature song, in fact, her band is named the Blue Moon Band. So I went to see her at a club here in San Diego. She opened for Richard Thompson (Who is brilliant). She wore an LBJ button on her guitar strap, apparently she always does that. What a moron. She was ok, but she didn't sing that song. It was so ridiculous and insulting that many who came to hear her sing the song she made the most famous didn't get to hear it. I'll never pay to see her again. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with Eva Cassidy. The CD you should start with is called SONGBIRD. You might recognize her rendition of FIELDS OF GOLD. Michelle Kwan used it as her big number for her championship competitions. It's so haunting. That was the first time I'd her her and I immediately researched who it was singing that song and found out the tragedy of her life.

The live version of it is the best, on the A Fair Summer's Evening CD. Ironically, Patrick Alger, not Nanci wrote the song. Alger has done some pretty good stuff himself, and wrote some nice tunes for Kathy Mattea.
Bttt though, i find that Sandi Patti has far to much hypocracy in her life to be someone i'd want on my school board. She fooled around on her husband while she was doing Christian music on the road. Odd how people who play "acceptable" forms of music to the Evangelical community seem to get a pass on things like that.

I certainly wouldn't mention Sandi Patty's name near or among the words "No Talents". She has more talent in her little finger than most "musicians" ever dreamed of possessing.
I've been reading here how quickly people are criticize Sandi. I believe if you saw "The Passion"...you will remember the scene depicting where the Bible said "You who are without sin, cast the first stone"..at the adulterous woman. After examining their own lives, not one person was left to harm her. At that point, she reached out and received her forgiveness. She was no longer guilty in the eyes of her Lord and Creator. God's Amazing Grace is available to all..including Sandi Patty.

Scandals in the evangelical movement. Why should it be any different from every other walk of life. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
