SAME-SEX NEWLYWEDS PLAN BIG PARTY TODAY
As hundreds of gay and lesbian couples get set for a big wedding celebration today in San Francisco, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed eager to tussle with the attorney general. The governor wants quick action taken to contest the thousands of same-sex marriage licenses, which could be little more than a fond memento if the courts intervene.
Attorney General Bill Lockyer has vowed to defend the state after San Francisco sued California on Thursday to overturn the sections of the family code that stipulate marriage in California must be between a man and a woman. Still, that vow didn't halt Schwarzenegger from calling the city's action ``an imminent risk to civil order'' -- something Lockyer dismissed as hyperbole.
``I sort of resent it when Arnold plays Conan the Barbarian for the right wing and directs me to do something. He doesn't have the authority to do that,'' Lockyer said Saturday.

Ahhhhhhh, I love the smell of a pending recall. Lord Lockyer the loser. On his trusty ass, unfortunately, facing towards the tail!

But the "right wing" was the one who was attacking Arnold more viciously than the Democrats.
I don't see any apology posts.

I think the question is really who does Lockyer think HE is. I thought he is supposed to help uphold the law. Apparently, even whent the governor reminds him, he still doesn't get it.

Governor playing `Conan the Barbarian for the right wing,' attorney general says Of course, the "right wing", in this case, is 60% of Californians and 80% of Americans nationwide.
Good strategy, Mr. Locklear. Hopefully, you've helped give California to President Bush this November.
God save us from these Democrats.

We will uphold the law when I decide.

Sure, Arnold should have marched over to the SF city hall, shot the mayor and all the gays waiting to get married, right? Would that have satisfied the "right wing"?
I like to think that the way the Dems portray the right wing is just vicious slander, but when I read posts like yours, I am afraid they may be right. The "right wing" is a serious liability to the Republicans -- they are the ones who keep us from winning elections in CA, and when we finally do have a Republican governor, they still spend all their effort attacking him.

,
After the California Recall Election Att. Gen. LOCKYEAR said that he voted for Gov. ARNOLD and then immediately called for a State Investigation of Recall news reports of Gov. ARNOLD's infidelity to his wife.
Att. Gen LOCKYEAR has since told us that it will be taking his office months to decide if it will file against the 9th Circuit with the U.S. Supreme Court over its going beyond procedures in releasing Multiple killer KEVIN COOPER off from his Final Justice.
Gov. ARNOLD has just instructed Att. Gen. LOCKYEAR to file against Democrat-Sponsored Homosexual Marriages ...and now LOCKYEAR is balking ..calling Gov. ARNOLD a "Barbarian" in the Process.
The California State Att. Gen. is the California Governor's LAWYER.
Any questions..?

looks like we have an attorney general that is not enforcing the law of California. The recall drive for his job will start this week.

If San Francisco is taking fees for issuing bogus marriage licenses--they oughta be charged with simple fraud.

Sure, Arnold should have marched over to the SF city hall, shot the mayor and all the gays waiting to get married, right? Would that have satisfied the "right wing"? No, he should have made his point on the first day of Newsom's illegal activities, not wait for 12 days! he waited to see what would be "politically viable". I remember when former President Clinton waited to act based on polls and focus groups. I prefer those who act on principles first, such as supporting the rule of law over all political concerns.

I was one of the million voters who voted for Tom McClintock. I knew that Schwarzenegger would spend his time being a milquetoast politician. He should have ran as an independent, and not a Republican.
Your comments about the "right wing being a liability to Republicans" is nonsense. Our Party's platform is "right wing". If they want to change it, they should do so openly, so that conservatives can know where they stand. Besides, what's the point of electing a Republican if he won't stand up and fight the Democrats and their vicious tactics???

Oh please. What is wrong with demanding that the law (and the voice of the people that voted for that law) be upheld? The only real fanatic here is the anarchist Mayor. What's next? Will there be mayors who don't believe in speed limits, gun restrictions, taxes, age of consent laws? The Mayor should have been called to task earlier. He wasn't, but it's better late than never. Your comment, "Sure, Arnold should have marched over to the SF city hall, shot the mayor and all the gays waiting to get married, right?" is a mendacious folderol.
Your suggestion seems to be that Republicans should embrace the spineless position of the namby-pamby and indecisive people that supposedly make up such a large portion of Americans (also called the "center"). The fact is, this country has long been in need of leaders who stand up for principals and what they really believe in. There's a right and wrong. Most of what the Democrats call "extreme" and "right wing" happens to be held dear to most Americans. What is "right wing" anyway? Belief in God? If so, count 90% of Americans as "right wingers".

I heard what the Calf. AG had to say in response to the Gov.. What kind of state is this?? It appears that it is on the edge of being ungovernable. When a mayor of a major city can ignore a state law and then when the Gov. asks the state AG to stop such actions the AG tells the Gov. to basically go to hell then the people of Calf. have a big problem. Add to this that the state is out of money and the people have even a bigger problem. I am glad that I am not a resident.
