As the sun rose February 21, skies showed red or orange in a region covering Eastern Switzerland, Western Austria and Southern Germany.
This has never been experienced so intense before.

Let us write the Great Murrican Novel. The title, obviously, is "Dangerously is the Sahara Dust."
We will open with your paragraph.

(humbly)Truly, I am honored.
But, oh, to be even a small part of an endeavor so much greater than myself... alas it cannot be so, for this paragraph is no longer mine: it is my gift to you.(/humbly)
...er, ...well, on second thought...
....think it would sell?

" Sunsets here in Louisiana the past couple of days have been breathtaking."
They were from the front that blew through Texas last week. There were some multi-car fatal accidents around Lubbock caused by duststorms. One of the government buildings in Andrews had the roof blow off.

It's due to sands from the Sahara. Precisely ... along the Spanish & French Mediterranean coast it's not unusual to see cars, boats in marinas, etc., covered in a fine reddish color red dust from the Sahara. The Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, just off the coast of SW Morocco experience the same phenomena. In fact wind born sand particles from the Sahara have traveled as far west as the Caribbean.

Red sky at morning, sailors take warning;
red sky at night, sailors' delight.
But...the Bible said it first!
Matthew 16:2,3 2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. 3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Have these people never seen sand in the sky before. Of course not, their too good for that. Instead on thinking of a logical explanation they jump to "Oh my God, it's global warming we're all gonna die" Remember these are the same people who let a ton of there old people die last summer because they had a little heat wave. Give me a break!

As mentioned, this intensity has never been observed before. BTW, last October it was the
first time the aurora borealis was seen at 40° N, ever since the year of fate, 1938.

I think the famous painting is the result of an eruption of Krakatoa.
I read the book by Simon Winchester a while ago, it was very good.
