Relatives and friends of the Hargon family in Vaughan comfort each other Friday evening as they pray for the missing family during a service at Ellison United Methodist Church in Vaughan. A small candle was lighted for each family member on the altar at the church. Michael, Rebecca and James Patrick have been missing from their rural Yazoo County home for the past week.

There were blood spatters in the house as well as shell casings. Does anyone doubt what has happened?
Maybe a little bit off topic but kinda related:
Several months ago there was a post on FR about a college football recruiter for the U of Alabama who was missing. He had apparently gone into a questionable neighborhood to recruit athletes. His cell phone and credit cards had been used after he disappeared.
I kept looking for updates to that story and never did see anything.
Does anyone know how that situation developed or was resolved?

I don't doubt that something bad has happened, but I can't say "what" happened. You have a theory?

If I remember correctly, they found him wandering. His car was in a ravine, and he had memory problems. Seems like there were personal issues that had to be sorted out, what was truth and what wasn't.

I seem to remember the first article saying there were also blood drops leading from Hargon's truck into the house. Anyone heard what kind of shell casings? Big difference in implications between .22 and 12 gauge.

His cell phone and credit cards had been used after he disappeared. Someone would have to exceptionally stupid to use the cell phone of a missing (murdered) person.
All cell phone companies record the number called. Almost all cell phone companies can now triangulate to locate an active cell phone.
All the police need to do is find the persons called from the cell phone and question the people called to find their suspect.
If that is not successful wait for the cell phone to be turned on and track down the suspect.

"but I can't say "what" happened. You have a theory?"
What bothered me about the case was the fact that the families cars are there and the car door was open. My wife suggested that whoever left the car was in a hurry. My thoughts are this and are in no way meant to throw mud on them but does fit some unusual facts.
The husband either suspects or knows his wife has a lover. He comes home to find the lover's car in the driveway. He grabs a gun and leaves his car in a hurry, rushes inside and confronts them, killing or wounding one or both. He takes the two of them or the bodies in the lover's car and leaves with his son in tow. Now he must try to get away and start a new life somewhere else.
The advantage of this from his standpoint is that the police are confused, giving him time, and his use of the lover's vehicle gives him complete cover as it is not suspected nor is the lover known to police, nor is the lover likely to be missed or even connected to the event.
I would be looking for any other missing persons reported in Mississippi or neighboring states around the same time for evidence supporting this scenario.

In response to your post # 8:
Yes, I am aware of that and you are aware of that but dumb criminals are not. :-)
Hmm.....isn't "dumb criminal" a redundancy?

I'm curious to know more about Earnest Lee Hargan (left out of a will) and Benny Fisher.
To: oldcomputerguy
Nonsense.
If I was the authorities I'd be looking at the step son that was left out of the will. He would have motive to dispose of the whole family
Also Micheal's father was murdered in a robbery 10 years ago. The murderer's of his father are up for parole and gossip is he was going to plerad to the parole board against their parole.

I'm curious to know more about Earnest Lee Hargan (left out of a will) and Benny Fisher.Last night the TV News interviewed Benny. He appears to be very uneducated or possibly "simple-minded". I doubt he has the ability to pull anything like this off.
I'm thinking more in line of the step son.
To: El Gran Salseron
Hello, I'm Richard's Mother. And who are you?
To: varina davis
Yes, I'm very interested in Earnest Lee. Does anyone know, or heard, if he has been located and interviewed?
To: sandmanbr
Thanks for the info about Benny. I haven't seen the news, so appreciate your report.
We need more info about the type person Earnest Lee is, and what he has been doing and DID do, in order to be disinherited.
