It appears that "no compromising" can get you in trouble. Perhaps positive results should be the goal.

Sure looks like it. The grip pattern seems the same. The second pic from the bottom (modular grips) is a reversed negative. Note the pin on the right side appears round in that pic, and larger and flat on the top side in all the other pics.

"The grip pattern seems the same"
That's what made it stand out!
Most all other models I've seen had a ribbed pattern.

It's real. I went to the gunshow and I tried to find a brochure. No one had one and the HK dealers didn't show up. Maybe they're embarrassed.
I'm going to my local ammo store to see if I can pick up one of these.

It certainly is a fun mistake. It really doesn't harm the company. It has nothing to do with their design, their treatment of their employees or anything political. I can just picture the photographer putting the scene together and not paying attention to the cartridges. They fit! Right?
What I would like to do is be the fly on the wall of one of their meeting rooms and listen to the CEO talking to the director of marketing. I'm sure the director had to approve the cover.

Not quite. Dean Martin, who portrayed Matt Helm in a movie used a backward-firing boobytrap weapon, but that was never a staple of any of the Matt Helm novels by author Don Hamilton. Helm's most favoured handgun was a .22 Colt Woodsman, though he otgen used 2-inch snubby revolvers, often liberated or otherwise borrowed from other operatives.
