The "marriages" are void John. This is just a publicity stunt, which is entertaining, and will allow all the pols to position themselves over the void event. California loves political theater (notice it is spelled "theater" not theatre," you closet Limey you :)). God bless it.

Well next up on the theatrics front is when one of the newly "married" couples petitions the court for a divorce...

We both know we're on opposite sides of this issue and I try to be as straight a shooter as I can.
I have to admit I am reveling in the spread of this particular brand of street theatRE from sea to shining sea.
It is energising my fellow travelers to man the parapets and barricades.
And for that I am truly grateful to Major Whatshisname in SF, Mayor Daley in Chicago and the Queen of Massachusetts, Margaret Marshall.

I've actually avoided this issue, I just sat around the sidelines and laughed.
There were no "gay" marriages in San Francisco...not a single one.
There were some gay people playing at getting married, and at the end, they received a completely worthless piece of paper.
Well, maybe not worthless...they may get a few bucks for one in Ebay a few years from now.

However, I will say that I had a moment of panic when I entertained the possibility of these "marriages" holding up to legal challenges.
It could mean that I've been married to Priscilla Brown since the sixth grade, and just the thought of having to tell my wife that she would have to denounce Judaism and move to Salt Lake City was absolutely horrifying.
