In no way was Martin Luther King Jr. correct on all his (primarily later) views, associates, etc. but he understood one very important fact in civil disobedience: break the law, accept the consequences. The images were strong and highlighted the non-violence strategy and it had a very successful effect. Compare that to today's liberals that want to break the law (stealing conservative newspapers, the Texas runaways, war protesters, etc.) in making their stand then when disciplined claim it's unfair, racist etc. The selfishness on the left is amazing - it's a hedonist party that never expects anyone to be responsible for their own behavior, just demand that society pick-up after their self-indulgence. In this case their is apparently no authority that's willing to take action and/or demand that the gay marriage proponents need to go the standard route - sue in court. On top of this, they ignore the ballot initiative that was passed only 2 years ago. The Dems thinks if this gay effort gets shotdown, surely the way it should in accords to their methods, then the left will be more motivated come November. Of course what they have done is put in a tight spot their myriad of office holders up for election in the fall while motivating their opponents (me and most here) beyond their wildest nightmares.
Most people here have been thoughtful about the issue, have taken on others in a constructive manner when disagreements on marriage vs. civil unions vs. neither. I'm proud to be part of a family of honest thinkers who have constantly shown the maturity that the left claims as theirs (under the guise of Diversity).
