Just this Christians view of how this will play out. If any other things come to mind, please mention them

Please bump this article if you will, I had intended only to preview and then post it more around quitting time. Oh well, I posted it by accident.

Hollywood will come under severe financial pressure due to this movie. Families will want to watch this movie many times almost ritualistically. It will replace new movies and DVD rentals (for a significant market segment) because it will be watched so many times. Hollywood will be in turmoil while they try to imitate it and compete for our attention. Movie trailers and television commercials will come under its sway first, while movie studios and television series will struggle to adapt. Foreign films with subtitles will also flourish for a while.

Great read except for this:
Also consider the other merchandising.
Somehow I don't see Burger King putting something from this movie into the "Kid' Meal" bag...

Well, maybe I didn't clarify that enough. Posters, pictures, replicas of the nails used, scuptures of him on the cross, and other things of that sort are what I meant. I too can't see the Burger King toy "tortured Jesus on a cross".

I agree. Family movies will become much more prevalent (or at least Hollywood's somewhat twisted attempts at them).

Posters, pictures, replicas of the nails used, scuptures of him on the cross Somehow I think the copyrights on those things expired a long time ago. Anyone could merchandise it but will it have the "official" Passion emblem?

I'm curious. Was there any kind of flap over the films "King of Kings" or "The Greatest Story Ever Told"?
To: sheik yerbouty
I surely don't recall that being the case.

Sorry, but on a serious thread you got me cracking up with that comment.
My big concern, with all the left has failed to do to stop this movie and the hype surrounding it, is that they may resort to voilence in the end to keep people from seeing the movie.
We are discussing a polarizing event, but it's even more than Christianity vs Liberalism . It is very much Good vs Evil. The threat that the message of Christ's sacrifice poses to them has driven them into a panic. I really believe they are prepared to do anything to stop that message from spreading.

Too bad many of the people who NEED to see this movie will be too busy lined up around the courthouse in leather pants and comfortable shoes. . .

I hate to say that your point has crossed my mind. But since all of the libs have divested themselves of their millions to give it to the poor, and have willingly disarmed due to gun control, and are so against violence as evidenced by their anti-war stances, MAYBE we'll be better off in that exchange than we think. LOL.

True... but the associated coffee table book is already going into a third reprint.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with your opinion on Last Temptation. I didn't like it but I didn't find it anti-religious at all, we do know that Satan wanted Him desperately so the film could have been an interesting "what if" exploration.

The left may be disarmed, but to the rabid Islamist, a sold-out screening may present a tempting target.

Excellent summation of events. The poltical stuff in the end of it is unimportant to me, but you laid out quite well many of my thoughts, rants and predictions.
I'm fascinated by the obvious spiritual dynamic at work here.

I never saw the movie, didn't have to. I didn't want the images from that garbage movie stuck in my brain. I read about a lot of the content. Jesus and either John or Judas (or both) shared a kiss on the mouth in this film (remember John the apostle that Jesus loved). This was another sick attempt to take the Lord out of context and make Him appear gay. They showed Him as weak and indecisive, He was anything but. They showed Him having sex with Mary Magdalene in His mind. They could just as easily have shown Him standing side by side with her. They intended to do just what they did, blaspheme His good and just name.
