By 4 p.m. Saturday, more than 600 Haitian-Americans had passed through the doors of Temple Salem Seventh Day Adventist Church to pray for their homeland, where armed rebels have tried to wrest control of the government from President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

backhoe, I know you've been following the situation in Haiti much more closely than I have been. Can you tell me who the rebels are? Do they have any particular ideology? Where are they getting their money from? Do they have the backing of other groups/countries?

I'm concerned that may turn out like Castro in the 50's--he was portrayed as a hero until he took over and announced he was a communist. I don't want to be lead down the wrong path again.

Honestly, I have just been scanning this stuff & linking it- I am not sure there is a "good guy" among all these groups.
