[history]
California's top Democrats were scrambling Thursday to defuse same-sex marriage as a political wedge issue that could cause them problems at the polls in November.
As a new statewide poll shows half of Californians oppose same-sex marriage and hints of potential difficulties among Democratic and independent voters, key California Democratic officeholders began to express doubts about same-sex marriage, and some were openly unhappy the matter had become an object of national politics.

I am a Dennis Miller conservative when it comes to gays...but I have to admit that I dont' understand how Gavin Newsom thinks he can up and 'change the law with his wife being a prosecutor. Isn't she sworn to uphold the law? (She is the dog mauling prosecutor).

What more can be said? SF is full of people who are sick in the head.
What would the polls say now, after the stupid circus? And I don't believe those polls anyway.
Let me know if you want on or off this ping list.

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, in her first public statement on same-sex marriage, scolded San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom for providing an opening for the Bush White House and Republicans. Therefore he's an idiot. What's wrong with homosexual marriage, [please, let's not use their language, "same-sex marriage"] from Feinstein and Kerry's point of view? NOTHING!!! It is only wrong because it isolates them from reaching their political goals.
Note that these people are all about a strategy for winning folks. They desperately want to control the table so they can have their way with this Country.
If these "rats" thought the public would let them get away with homosexual marriage, that it wouldn't hurt them in the polls come November, then they'd be fully supporting the San Fran Mayor Newsom. As it is he's out of line ONLY because he's hurting the cause.
Don't look now but we're losing the moral foundations of a just society. The tidal waves of sleaze have been washing over our Country thanks to the press, the entertainment industry and these energized interest groups. Don't buy into their way of thinking! Don't let them control our Country!!!
The homosexual issue is not about equality, it's about a new morality. If you doubt this read God's opinion about the subject of homosexuality in Romans chapter 1.
God warns he will give these people over to their own lusts. They think they're becoming so fair and wise, yet they're being deluded by their tolerance of lustful indulgence. They drift farther away from knowing Him...the One who is true righteousness and defines what is evil, not the State.
Sound the alarm! We are in trouble!!!

I'm on the same boat. Newson is obviously using a "cart-before-the-horse" strategy that is unacceptable.
When you couple this flaunting of the law with the 2000 attempted-usurption in Florida, the runaway reps in Texas, this is turning out to be par for the liberal course.

I find this pole very suspect since in 2000, 61% of the voters in CA. voted to approve marriages only between men and women.
