[history]
President Bush left several million evangelical voters "on the table" four years ago and again is having trouble energizing Christian conservatives, prominent leaders on the religious right say.
"It's not just economic conservatives upset by runaway federal spending that he's having trouble with. I think his biggest problem will be social conservatives who are not motivated to work for the ticket and to ensure their fellow Christians get to the polling booth," said Robert H. Knight, director of the Culture and Family Institute.

I agree.
Who are these idiots?
Why are they playing into the hands of "Moby"?
Also, didn't Bush come out and endorse an amendment on this issue? What more do they want? Do they want secularist Kerry in the White House to put liberal activist judges on the bench? That'll show Bush!!! /sarcasm

Yep. Let me get this straight:
"If there is a rerun of 2000, when an estimated 6 million fewer evangelical Christians voted than in the pivotal year of 1994, then the Bush ticket will be in trouble, especially if there is no [Ralph] Nader alternative to draw Democratic votes away from the Democratic candidate," added Mr. Knight, whose organization is an affiliate of Concerned Women for America (CWA).
So, we're talking about people who stayed home in 2000, who are now complaining that the guy they didn't vote for in the first place isn't doing enough to keep the vote they never gave him. And these non-voting voters wonder why they're not taken seriously enough by the Republican Party?

Bush remains the best hope we have. Sad, but true.

The thing that gets to me is no one realizes that the President has absolutely nothing to do with the amendment process of the Constitution. It is entirely a matter for Congress and the States.

This is insane. President Bush has said he'll support a consitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Why in the hell would these people stay home? Do they want him foaming at the mouth, denoucing Mayor Newsom himself?

upped the budget for the National Endowment for the Arts
why would he do that?
First I have heard of that and it bugs me.
I will still vote for him.

And, for the record, that the "Christian Coalition" gave the GOP the House and Senate in 1994 is a liberal media "religious right" myth.
The Dems were trounced by margins the CC couldn't possibly give them (on a district-by-district basis).
Don't get me wrong... they HELP, but they are not the end-all, be-all.
Still... don't get me wrong... I have no idea what these idiots help to accomplish (except to get the Prez tagged as a "religious fanatic" if he should now happen to take a stronger stand on these issues, giving the mainstream media "religious right" ammo and stories, and alienating MORE voters).
Thanks, guys! /sarcasm

Overblown tripe pushed by the media. Come on guys, there's no way that Christians aren't completely and fully behind our president, except for a few mal-contents that will never be happy.
The media is stirring the pot, trying to give credibility to their polls and more fuel to the "Bush is in trouble" fire. BS, I say. Not that we're not in a dog fight, but it's not near as bad as the media is going to portray it. That's how they influence voters.

They have 257 days left to bargain..... That is all most of this is..... They can bring their group on board in very short order and most will I suspect when it gets down to crunch time.... until then they are playing the field hoping to get a morsel or two..... politics as usual imo.

Many people gave GWB their votes in '00 based on nothing more than an Anybody But Clinton mantra.
Anybody But Bush has been the dim theme this week.
Turn a blind eye to what is going on if it floats your boat, but GWB is gonna need every vote he can muster against a motivated opposition party. Now, whether the opposition party is truly motivated, even as we post, is very debatable. Will they be more motivated in Nov.? Something screams "yes" to me.

Why in the hell would these people stay home? Do they want him foaming at the mouth, denoucing Mayor Newsom himself? Yes. That sawed-off little shrimp of a bastard Gary Bauer smugly will tell you: "Bush didn't do enough to get his judges through."
There's not much he could have done, short of shooting six Democrat senators.
I've had a bellyful of these fundies. Unless you kiss their ass, they'll stay home in a fit of pique, then gripe like hell over a Democrat President whom THEY put in office!

Good for them! It's high time someone put the "fear of God" in GW. Or at least Karl Rove. Bush is entitled to no one's vote simply by not being a Democrat. Too many people made the mistake of voting for him in 2000 simply for that reason.
