Major Sullivan Ballou's final letter in the Civil War has been posted on FR more than once. Therefore, I shall not post the whole thing. But two passages from that letter seemed especially appropriate to this thread. This was a letter from Sullivan to his wife Sarah, written just before Sullivan's death in battle.
"Sarah, my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me to you with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence could break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly on with all these chains to the battlefield."
"But, O Sarah! If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the garish day and in the darkest night -- amidst your happiest scenes and gloomiest hours -- always, always; and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath; or the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by."
To the fallen heroes, may angels guide thee to thy rest. Peole ask why we've had no major terrorist attacks on America since September 11th. The heroes listed in this thread are one reason we've been safe since then. Heroes, thank you!
To: SandRat
"Thank You" just isn't enough here.
These names must have their own memorial so that their sacrifice is not forgotten. They died in a cause that not only protected America from further terror attacks, but prevented such attacks on our so-called traditional allies.
May we be worthy of their sacrifice, and the loss felt by those loved ones they left behind.

Statistically that list HAS to have been abbreviated; far more American surnames start with T thru Z than that list allows for, some names must have been deleted at the end and not posted in T-Z.
I do wonder if democracy for every Moozie in Iraq, though, would be worth such a sacrifice. Only if they could be made Christian ALSO, would any commensurate benefit have been achieved.

I thank them and their families for their ultimate sacrifice.
May the great Name of God be exalted and sanctified, throughout the world, which he has created according to his will. May his Kingship be established in your lifetime and in your days, and in the lifetime of the entire household of Israel, swiftly and in the near future; and say, Amen.
May his great name be blessed, forever and ever. Blessed, praised, glorified, exalted, extolled, honored elevated and lauded be the Name of the holy one, Blessed is he- above and beyond any blessings and hymns, Praises and consolations which are uttered in the world; and say Amen. May there be abundant peace from Heaven, and life, upon us and upon all Israel; and say, Amen.
He who makes peace in his high holy places, may he bring peace upon us, and upon all Israel; and say Amen.
