This is an interesting article, and relatively fair in examining the pluses and minuses of Edwards career. However, there is a quick answer to the question in the title about "Edwards' heart." He's a big-ticket trial lawyer. He doesn't have a heart. He has a double-sized wallet instead.

A gust of wind toppling an SUV. I suspect that the boy lost control of the family car and died a meaningless and foolish death. I can well imagine the sense of superiority and new entitlement that a boy from a lower class background embued his own children with once he had made a fortune.
