And for those liberals and medicrats who dismiss the AQ/Saddam connection, it should be noted that this is the same man who was treated in a Baghdad hospital, after fleeing Afghanistan after that conflict erupted. Not only is he described as a top liuetenant in Usama's group, his affilate outfit, Ansar al-Islam, operated with impunity in Northeast Iraq.

While excuses have been made, that Ansar al-Islam operated out of Saddam's jurisdiction, I highly doubt that leading terrorists just passed through Baghdad without the consent of Saddam Hussein. With "most-wanted" terrorists like Abu Nidal making his home in Baghdad and figures like Abu Abass being apprehended just south of Baghdad, the terrorist connection to Saddam was enough to justify this war.

"We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them." This was always plain enough for me.

Feller's pretty passionate about killing the Shi'ites, which is probably not the best salesmanship in a country where there are so many of them. But key to this communication is the apparent intention to move on to a country more advantageous in terms of terrain and popular support. It won't be east - the Iranians tend to frown on people who blow up Shi'ites - and hence, well, where? Afghanistan? Turkey? Nope. Jordan? I don't think so. Syria? Saudia Arabia? Egypt? Somalia? Could be...

I don't think it's time to beat the swords into plowshares just yet.
