HOUSTON- Former Enron Corp. chief executive Jeff Skilling surrendered to the FBI Thursday following reports that he had been indicted by a federal grand jury for his part in the collapse of the former energy trading giant.
Skilling, 50, entered FBI headquarters in Houston accompanied by about six attorneys at 6:52 local time. Skilling has denied any wrongdoing, but news reports said he was named in a sealed indictment handed up to a federal magistrate on Wednesday. He is expected to appear in court later in the day.
Citing personal reasons, Skilling resigned from Enron in August 2001, four months before the company filed for bankruptcy amid disclosures that Enron officials had hidden billions of dollars in debt and inflated profits to boost the stock price.

You all just watch how the media ties Bush into Enron again. This gives the media another opening to pile on as they have done the past month. Even tough it was discovered that Enron was far more in the thick with the Rats than the GOP.

If he had been smart enough to resign a year earlier, no one could touch him...

If Team Bush was somewhat smart (which hasn't really been happening in 2004)they would be out front on this saying to the world .... see, I don't protect special interest .... in fact I go after them and will throw them in jail if they hurt the public etc ....
Of course that's just my thoughts and of course the press plays it their way and not the way the administration wants it played.

Skilling has too much ego for an early retirement. Such individuals think they are bullet proof. And with his team of six lawyers, he still does.

You are right. Bush's team is failing. They are playing prevent defense in the 1st quarter and anybody that knows football knows that is a no-no.
Yesterday was another example with the economic report. They allowed the Rats to exploit another gafe on the jobs issue.

Six attorneys. I think he's trying to make a statement, like, "I'm too important to touch!"

I think they both grew up around the Chicago area and, quite possibly, parents, sibs are still in the area......sad!
