"He went, he served, he suffered." I went to Viet Nam and I'm sick of those who glorify the whole business. I don't visit the Viet Nam memorial because inscribed on it are names of US servicemen who joined the Viet Cong and served the NVA. Also inscribed are drug dealers who were blown away in internecine firefights. Inscribed are the names of drunken truck drivers who rolled their vehicles on Highway 1 and killed their passengers. Inscribed are the names of suicides and those who died of drug overdoses.

To commemorate the legion of men who served in Viet Nam is one thing, and a proud memorial to their devotion to duty is required; to glorify the individual combatant is to give to each the honor that is solely due the group.

You are a liberal and a lurker, here since December of 2003.

You are truth resistant. How does this triple amputee like it? He chose to run for Senate, he chose to let the party distort the facts behind his injuries, and he did little to nothing to set the record straight.

Further, he did nothing to come to Bush's defense when those same distortions were used to smear a man who served honorably, and then was honorably discharged.

Now, look your self in the mirror, and look at your beliefs, and now ask yourself if the moral or intellectual discrepancies of anybody really matters to you. Liberals are all for kids, just so long as they clear the labia. Liberals are the party of environmentalism and jobs for construction workers, electricians, chemical workers, oil workers, etc.

All you have left to you is lies, distortions, rumor-mongering, and appealing the basest aspects of mob psychology in order to retain your feeble, waning clutch on power.

It's not too late for you however, truth abounds in this forum, and you'll find conservatives here challenging other conservatives to site their sources for the positions they hold.

Go back into lurk mode, lurk in the silence of your room, and have the courage to challenge the foundation of your positions. In that room you may have the courage to admit, if even only to yourself, that something other than abject hate has to underpin your beliefs.

Exactly. I've been seeing the same thing and it is pure garbage. President Bush's policy decisions have not always been ones I've agreed with, but he is far and away the right man for the right time, and he is FAR SUPERIOR to any of the electable alternatives, only someone who yearns to lose would switch their vote from Bush to someone else (or stay home on election day).

Much as I like Ann, that quote, if it is correct, is just plain wrong. We can never force christianity upon anyone. If we try then we make ourselves no better than middle ages catholicism.

What I don't like is that people seem required to say "I'm not questioning his patriotism, but..." Well, I question his patriotism. I think if you have to make a disclaimer like that you're halfway to capitulating their point. Like Susan Estrogen smiling that "cat that ate the canary" smile on F&F this morning and saying "We can refight Vietnam all day long... we have the war hero on our side." That "war hero" crap has GOT to be debunked.
