[history]
People are always talking about media bias, and usually it's dismissed as a mere issue of perception. So it was interesting to see the folks at ABC News' political blog, The Note, fess up to what everyone knows:
Like every other institution, the Washington and political press corps operate with a good number of biases and predilections. They include, but are not limited to, a near-universal shared sense that liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion, and religion are the default, while more conservative positions are "conservative positions."
They include a belief that government is a mechanism to solve the nation's problems; that more taxes on corporations and the wealthy are good ways to cut the deficit and raise money for social spending and don't have a negative affect on economic growth; and that emotional examples of suffering (provided by unions or consumer groups) are good ways to illustrate economic statistic stories. . . .
The press, by and large, does not accept President Bush's justifications for the Iraq war -- in any of its WMD, imminent threat, or evil-doer formulations. It does not understand how educated, sensible people could possibly be wary of multilateral institutions or friendly, sophisticated European allies. . . .
The worldview of the dominant media can be seen in every frame of video and every print word choice that is currently being produced about the presidential race

Where's that "Stop Unnecessary Excerpting" graphic when you need it the most...
To: roostercogburn
Unfortunately the media has admitted to a liberal bias on many occasions over the last couple of years. The LA times repremanded thier writers in print last year then almost immediately launched thier attack on Arnold Shwartzenegger. MSNBC admitted that the story of a firefight and capture of Jessica Lynch was all rumor on the part of the media and without pentago confirmation.
The media admits guilt solely to make themselves feel better, then they do it all over again.

We DO have to excerpt from MSNBC.
The thing to do is either find the Glenn Reynolds article someplace else, or post something more than a mere link. My goodness. This post will make no sense at all in less than a year, and it will be archived anyway.

It's just a blog. Probably no one reads it.

I know we have to excerpt from them, but that was only a link, not an excerpt.
Silliness.

Yep, 'cause it's owned by Newsweek, I think. Let me go find the list again.

My, how the list has expanded since excerpting first began around here.
Thanks for the info.
