[history]
Things change. I understand that. Everyone understands that. Minds change, attitudes change. Times change. What's true in November and December and January is not necessarily so in February. Happens all the time.
But this Alex Rodriguez thing ... I mean, I'm not sure that anyone in baseball was really ready to believe that Rodriguez actually would be playing in Texas this season, no matter what came out of his mouth the past few weeks. Not until he showed up in Texas with a Rangers uniform on, anyway. There just weren't many people who bought the idea that A-Rod, suddenly, had come to some sort of peace with the idea of playing for the sad-sack Rangers. Or that the Rangers suddenly believed that they could win while still forking over about a third of their payroll to Rodriguez.

Amazing. The Texas Rangers are paying The Yankess to take the league MVP off of their hands. Gee, what place are they going to finish in?....LAST.

$252 for 10 years. I never EVER understood what they were thinking. The Rangers have always had good hitters.. It's the PITCHERS

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary. You have the right to be wrong.)

Well, if there were any place lower than last place, the Rangers would find a way to get there.
But you know, I thought Seattle would not do to well the year that A-Rod left them, but I think that was the year they did the best they ever have.
That of course is not to say the Rangers will do likewise, but surprises have happened.
To: .cnI redruM
LOL. This thread could really start going down hill.

Some people find themselves in a hole and decide to keep digging. The Rangers get themselves in that hole and set up the drilling rig...

So the richest player in baseball goes to the Yankees. The Red Sox take it in the shorts.Which has been happening and will continue to happen, happily, since 1918.....

What I find truly amazing is that it was the
Yankees who have been getting all the grief for the A-Rod deal. It wasn't George Steinbrenner who signed him to that idiotic $252 million deal.
Think of it this way: The Yankees traded Soriano for the best player in baseball (with a $252 million contract), and their payroll for the 2004 season is only increasing by $750,000. And Texas is paying something like $67 million of his remaining contract -- which is basically a $67 million penalty for being dumb enough to sign him in the first place.

I agree that A-Rod's salary, and many other athletes are obscene. I just wish some of that nastiness would run off on me. I haven't heard much of an outcry about salaries by the two MJ's - Jackson and Jordan; or Oprah, or Baldwin or Stallone, or other TV and movie ego-sickable giants. Could it be that the Yankees put their profits back into the club while many others put their profits in other businesses and into their own back pockets? Call your next case!

The dems and leftists will raise this as an issue! Bush used to be associated with the Texas Ranger baseball team. Last year the Rangers got rid of Ivan "Pudge" RODRIQUEZ. This year they get rid of Alex RODRIQUEZ! Coincidence? The crap weasels won't think so. They'll say the Rangers got rid of these two because Bush has something against Hispanics!

There are no loyalties in professional sports any longer.
Owners physically move teams to other cities in the dark of the night
Players follow the Big Bucks like a crack-whore to cocaine.
Yet these professional teams want the loyal fans to pony up for over-priced tickets, food, drink & parking!
About the only way I go to any pro game is when I'm given the tickets.
To: TexasCajun
I hope someone does give me tickets to the Astros this season, we have NY Aces Andy Pettitte & Roger Clemens!
Thanks New York!
To: TexasCajun
I will say that the Diamondbacks do allow for those of us who cannot or will not pay the big bucks..they have game day tickets in 2 small sections for $1.00 each and you know what, it's a great deal! You still see everything (helps to take binoculars) and no one forces you to buy the overpriced food and beverages! We go atleast once a year to the $1.00 seats!
