Bush is an east coast patrician condescending to rule the US not a Western tragic hero. In his favor he has shown good leadership on the war on terrorism. But if the alternative wasn't so horrendous I would not vote for him. He is the best we can hope to elect at this point in time but that doesn't' mean he is very good. A hero he isn't.

For a guy that raised his children in Midland Texas to be called an east coast republican seems like a stretch. As a matter of fact I doubt that the kids at Yale or Harvard every thought of the guy with the Texas slang as anything but a hick from Texaqs.

He didn't veto some spending, end of east coast theory. If you think that all west Texans act alone and don't help a neighbor, in need, then you missed some of the west Texas story.
