Faster than you can think, a B-1, supersonic, 1000 feet over our heads, blasts the sound barrier and it feels like God just hit you in the head with a hammer. He then stands it straight up with four white trails of flame coming out and disappears. Global reach, Global Power, OOHRAH Air Force!!
Best post I've read in days, thanks so much for sharing. I now have a very vivid mental picture of this event! If you have a way to email that trooper, tell him we're praying for them all, every day, and that he's a hero proved in liberating strife.

all I see is three guys running a tractor and plowing a field.Looks like the guy plowing the field was the Apache.

I missed this first time around and appreciate you posting it. These guys have to hear about or see fellow soldiers killed by these "nighttime farmers" plowing fields. It was either send them to the virgins or take a chance these guys get lucky and take down some of their friends one night.
These guys are doing the dirty work for the rest of us. God Bless them and bring them home safely to their families.

Seen it....
I think that these guys were killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Looks like they're replacing a broken PTO shaft on that tractor. I could be wrong, but thats what it looks like to me.

Or a PTO shaft with a hot bearing.

Be glad you're not walking the field with your kindred spirits, cav.
I would order 'engage'.
Lose the psy-op trash - you're not fooling anyone.

Looks like they're replacing a broken PTO shaft on that tractor. I could be wrong, but thats what it looks like to me. You have looked at the long version? Nobody acts that furitive about a PTO shaft. Also how to explain the reaction of the second guy to the first one getting hit? Why would he furiously start pulling the wrappings off a PTO shaft? Now if it was an RPG or even MANPAD SAM, that action would at least make sense. Hiding under the tractor might have made more sense, but that wouldn't have helped him either most likely.

I'll stick by my opinion... and yes I've seen the "long" version, about 25 times.
Thats when I realized what I was looking at.
I'd have capped the gomers to, seeing what I saw the first time. I've had the luxury of being able to re-run the tape, something you don't get in real life except in NFL games. I've spent a good deal of time looking through thermal sights, and things can be deceiving.
Besides, I have a real distrust of Apache gunners. A friend of mine was killed while eating his dinner in the back of his Bradly during the Gulf War thanks to a itchy trigger finger and a "good" target ID through a thermal sight. You may have seen it on the Discovery channel.

See post 54.
I had some really nasty responses to your post, but I can only suppose that you know where I've been and what I've seen and done.
Ignorance may be your only excuse.
