Kerry's PCF (Swift) Boats Records [Where Is He?]
Swift Boats Net ^ | Composite

Posted on 02/17/2004 1:22:19 PM PST by Hon

Kerry commanded his first swift boat, No. 44, from December 1968 through January 1969. He received no medals while serving on this craft.

Kerry experienced his first intense combat action on Dec. 2, 1968. He was slightly wounded on his arm, earning his first Purple Heart.

In late January 1969, Kerry joined a five-man crew on swift boat No. 94 completing 18 missions over 48 days, almost all of them in the Mekong Delta.

Kerry earned his second Purple Heart after sustaining a minor shrapnel wound in his left thigh on Feb. 20, 1969.

February 28, 1969:
When Kerry's Patrol Craft Fast 94 received a B-40 rocket shot from shore, he hot dogged his craft beaching it in the center of the enemy position. To his surprise, an enemy soldier sprang up from a hole not ten feet from Patrol Craft 94 and fled.

The boat's machine gunner hit and wounded the fleeing Viet Cong as he darted behind a hootch. The twin .50s gunner fired at the Viet Cong. He said he "laid 50 rounds" into the hootch before Kerry leaped from the boat and dashed in to administer a "coup de grace" to the wounded Viet Cong. Kerry returned with the B-40 rocket and launcher.

Kerry was given a Silver Star for his actions.

On March 13, 1969, a mine detonated near Kerry's boat, slighting wounding Kerry in the right arm. He was awarded his third Purple Heart.

- PCF 44 and 6 other swifts were delivered to Cam Ranh Bay, from Subic Bay, PI, onboard the USS Tortuga, LSD-29 on 17 April 1966.   While offloading, at night, from the LSD, one (1) boat suffered a damaged screw and four (4) others damaged skegs.

- PCFs 43, 44 and 47 stopped an infiltration attempt by taking an enemy arms trawler under fire and destroying it, 29 February 1968.

- In August 1969, a ceramic gunshield was installed on mount 52 for evaluation.   The disadvantages of restricting the movement of the .50 caliber mount, with the after pin removed, the restricted viewing area, due to the height of the shield, and the fact that it was a one shot item, that would have to be replaced after any damage, ruled out any further installations.

Where in the world did you get this training? F-Troop?

29 Palms CA. United States Marine Corps. :)

Now this is bugging me - there's some round out there that is prohibited for use on human targets, but I can't recall it. Can't be the 50 cal b/c snipers use it. Its got to be the 25mm AP. Anyone remember?

Things are different now, as we have learned, only the records tell the truth.

The standard has been set and only JFKerry's military records can tell his story.

I have no problem with the truth, we just have not seen the truth yet. If what JFKerry claims about his "HERO" status is what his military records show, so be it. JFKerry sure has not put forth his records, hasn't even been asked yet to make them public.

You can't tell that hitting Bush for his national guard record is ok and hitting Kerry on a military record he may have doctored is wrong. I have a cousin who went into the Navy to stay out of combat. HIs words not mine.

He got the Silver Star on the same day?????

By the way, are they Bronze Stars on the two guys next to him? Can't see if the rest of the crew has them.

I'm beginning to smell a quid pro quo.

What was he doing running after VC when he had just been wounded in the thigh?

He had a temper tantrum and risked his crew to get a trophy.

I was merely commenting on his behavior. If the account given in #39 is accurate, then Kerry's action was courageous. If the other account is correct, that he administerd the coup de grace, then he acted badly.

But this (from #39) is a bit much by any measure: >> His action likely saved the boat and crew.

His own mistake in beaching the boat is what put it in danger.

I am not ragging the Navy. I have friends and family serving. Its just that I don't think Kerry's record is anymore outstanding than Bush's. His conduct after he returned home is unexcusable.

The Geneva Convention outlawed dum-dum bullets. They were the big bug-a-boo a hundred years ago and nations were only to use full metal jackets rounds.

BTW, ever see any Blended Metal rounds? They punch nice round holes through steel plate, yet will shread a rump roast-- Or any part of a human. Read where one was used in return fire on an Iraqi by a private security guy. He hit him in the rump and the round took off the whole rear end. Needless to say, the Iraqi made a real estate deal on the spot. We need to start issuing these rounds to our military in country.

On Feb. 20, 1969, Kerry earned his second Purple Heart after sustaining a shrapnel wound in his left thigh.

Five days later Kerry's boat was on patrol when a supporting helicopter ran out of ammunition. Instead of retreating, Kerry turned his boat directly toward hidden snipers, then beached the boat, and ordered an assault party onshore.

Kerry rushed ashore and found what they thought was a Viet Cong guerrilla inside a bunker. After Kerry sought a surrender, Medeiros threw a grenade. The two assumed an enemy had been killed, although Medeiros said he never saw the victim and wonders now whether it could have been an animal.

http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061603.shtml

This isn't the Silver Star event. This is FIVE DAYS after a wound that Kerry says cost him two days in the hospital.

Or shoot a dead body. I don't give a damn about his record, you don't turn from a patriotic soldier to a communist agitator that fast. The story that he "fought in Vietnam and then came home to fight one more battle" is a bunch of crap. He should be held to the same standard that W is being held to. Wheres the documentation Kerry?

You can blast the enemy with any caliber gun: 18 cal bee, 22, 50 cal, 12.7mm, 20,25,30,40 millimeters. All the way up to 18 inch guns. Take your pick; the sky is the limit. I say blast them into pieces...

How does a man get decorated based solely on his own word? If I go to the pro shop and tell them I hit a hole-in-one it doesn't count unless I can produce a witness. Something really, really smells bad about Mr. Kerry and his war hero status, and I hope he can be outed before this election.

See #35. The phrases "shoot the wounded" and "coup de grace" both refer to enemy who are helpless.
