Check out this list of other cowards like Kerry who were avoiding combat by serving on swift boats:

Cowards, every one of them.

You people need to lay off Kerry for serving on swift boats. In trying to denigrate him, you denigrate everyone else who did similar service and they (including Kerry) don't deserve it. Kerry served his country in combat. You can't (and shouldn't) try to take that away from him. Everyone can find plenty else to use against Kerry, y'all should leave his combat service out of it.
I'm sending out a special thanks to all those who served on swift boats in Vietnam (I think a couple of Freepers on this thread are included). And a very special thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving on swift boats. Their names are listed in the link above.

I don't think people are questioning his service - people are questioning his intentions.
The place where Kerry is vulnerable is :
1) his record
2) his words upon returning from Vietnam, where 2 of his boat crew have expressed reservations on Kerry's activites after leaving Vietnam.

I agree wholeheartedly, and said so earlier, but the nitwits here don't know enough to leave losing issues alone. They want to attack their "enemies" in politics and can't accept the fact that many of their "enemies" are/were patriots and heros. Attacking blindly & with no facts to support the attack will only bring laughter from your foes and tears from your friends.

Funny...
From Kerry's own words, he chose Swift boats because WHEN HE APPLIED, they were independent command off-shore interdiction (Market Time ops) opertaions that had seen little action for almost 1-1/2 years.
Sure, they were in the middle of tough duty when he got there, but Kerry left early after only 18 days of action. Out of about 90 total.
We don't really know - See, Kerry has refused to release HIS records.
So we really don't know what he did.

I'm proud to see my name listed on boats 10, 45, and 51. I still keep track of several boatmates who served with me.
My beef with Kerry isn't over his service in Nam...it is over what he did when he came home. He can have his bogus purple hearts and silver star...if he thinks he earned them, fine.
My beef is with what he did when he returned home and for protesting the war while good men were fighting and dying over there is treasonous. I didn't think it possible, but I actually dispise Kerry even more than I do Clintoon, and I did not think this possible.
He is a disgrace to the uniform he wore and all those good shipmates who served with him.
