This is the first 'slippery slope' argument against Gay Marriage that has brought up an outcome that is actually a likely next step.... The other examples oft used, like marrying a dog, don't fly. But a return to a kind of polygamy is a reasonable expected outcome of broadening the marriage definition. Why not.... If any two people can form a marriage, why not any three or four?

Yeesh.... What a carnival.

Interesting note--Most of the people getting this are women.

That's because women are big on commitment, so lesbian long-term relationships tend to be very stable (and probably involve a lot of talking about feelings).

IIRC, the first couple to be "married" in San Fran were a pair of women in their 70's-80's. Good PR move- people are less likely to be threatened by a couple of old ladies.

So for k-strategy reproducers, communities with a higher incidence of the homosexual gene could have a reproductive advantage over communities with a lower incidence (at least up to some cutoff value).

Maybe. At the very least, a homosexual member of the group would not be a drain on resources like, say, an infant child. The bigger point I was trying to make is that, assuming homosexuality is recessive, other non-gay members of the hunter-gatherer group would carry the recessive gene and would pass them on.

The nuclear family, consisting of mom, dad and the kids, is a recent development. For most of human history, the family consisted of a multi-generational group, including "bachelor" aunts and uncles who, for whatever reason, never had offspring.

I have no idea what primitive people thought of homosexuality.

Feelings? I feel like a sandwich.

Hey, just because they're lesbians doesn't mean they don't like to shop or talk incessantly.

Or that gay people are just plain weird.

Could be, but that doesn't explain what causes homosexuality. There are plenty of weird straight people, too.

Obviously heathens are so repulsed by God and by Christians that I am fully convinced that they would commit a gay act out of defiance rather than out of really wanting to be gay.

There are clearly some people who are drawn to the breaking of certain taboos just for the thrill of it. When they cry that often heard lament, "Who would choose to be homosexual knowing that society will reject them?", the correct answer is "Perverts would."

Everyone who lives is a sinner. It's just that some of us don't revel in our sins but repent them instead.

Just curious....could you point me to the section of the Bible that points out where execution of effeminate men and transvestites is mentioned.....perhaps I've been mis-reading my Bible all along....

I guess you missed it, but he was describing the historical practice within Moslem nations. Odd that you were try to turn it around as an attack on Christians.

How long have you been a christophobe?

errrr, you must have me confused with someone else....;)

I am a Christian.

My Bible tells me to show people compassion and have empathy for them.

I just asked the poster a simple question. I have not recieved an answer.

When I was young, I was taught not to judge others, that God would judge all. Perhaps I'm reading from "the wrong" Bible.

ha, ha, ha....thanks for the heads up on that brown shower thing!!!
Wow, ya learn something every day here at FR.

:)

To each his own, I suppose....like I said in previous post, let God judge all. I think your revulsion of gay peeps living down the street from you may be a little severe. Now, if these peeps were giving each other brown showers on their front lawn, I might be inclined to take your side of the argument.

Ha, Ha, Ha...

Ciao... ;)

Gee, I never actually have beat my wife. So, no, I guess I cannot answer that question.....one cannot stop something if one has never started something.

Is this a practice you recommend?

Perhaps I'm reading from "the wrong" Bible.

Then I will once again point out that he was describing the current state of affairs in Moslem counties. Odd how you again tried to turn it back on him as if he were the one reading a "different" Bible.

You do know that the Moslem using a different book, yes?

Does whatever Bible you read tell you to encourage people to continue in their sin, knowing where it will lead? That is neither compassion nor empathy!

As to Christians and their Bible discussing sexual morality, check Acts 15.
