Yup. It's a battle of beliefs isn't it. It didn't used to be my belief either so I understand why you don't see it the may I do now.
The real problem here is not that homosexuals are sinners like the rest of us, it is that they flaunt rather than repent of what they are doing. They are trying to indoctrinate our children in their way of life through the public schools. They are trying to silence opposition to what they do through legislative bullying and intimidation. They are trying to destroy the long-standing institution of marriage. And they are trying to decimate entire church denominations which do not capitulate to their demands. In short, they are trying to destroy our way of life life that was given to us from the time of Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. And they are succeeding. Indeed, they have gone way too far. And we have let them.
What homosexuals do in their bedrooms is between them and God. But what they do on our school boards and in our legislatures and churches is all of our business and we had better come to terms with this nasty fact of life soon before we lose our rights and our children to this twisted perversion of life.
It has everything to do with secularism and humanism. In a society which increasingly relies on secular and humanist thinking to define its laws, why should there be a problem with conferring legal recognition on a "union" of two people of the same sex?
Only the belief that marriage is a Divinely instituted sacrament for the procreation of new life stands in the way of the present trend. In other words, marriage is made in heaven and God is its author. "Male and female He created them......", ".....shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together....." Now, for a society which is increasingly declaring its intention of removing God from all public dealings and affairs, the obvious progression is to arrive at a definition of marriage which is different from the Christian one. And it is in the process of doing precisely ths.
This folks, is the result of the "keep religion out of government" trend. The other side of the coin which sees Ten Commandments ripped out of court houses, school prayer banned etc etc. No, it is not a startling and frightening new development. It is simply a continuation of something that has been developing for half a century or more, mostly while America slept.
I don't support gay 'marriage' but I do support some kind of civil union: the idea of recognizing two people who live together and share financial assets, medical information, etc...That is reality and I have seen it. I have friends and family members who are gay and they and their partners love each other just as much as any straight couple does.
The homosexual gene (if it exists) could be recessive, so heterosexuals could carry a "gay" gene and pass it on for generations until they had offspring with another person who was a carrier for the gene. If they both passed on the gay gene, their child would be gay.
Another possibility is that the gay gene requires something else to trigger it, or that homosexuality is caused by a combination of several different genes.
I have gay neighbors and I do not fear them at all. If I were to fear them regarding their ability to cause my kids to become gay it would be impossible for me to love them as neighbors. Sure, I hate what they represent but when it comes to sexual sin, my hands are far from clean.
Hmm.... But, in a primitive society (say, a group of hunter-gatherers), having a gay member of the group may actually help the group as a whole (and the group will have very similar genes). The gay member would contribute labor and help the rest of the group gather resources, while at the same time the gay member would not be having children (who contribute nothing until they are old enough to take part in hunting/gathering).
If we're assuming that the gay gene is recessive, other members of the hunter-gatherer family group would also carry the gene. Though the gay member might not pass on his genes, the other members of the group will and his contributions will help that passing on.
That has nothing to do with him being gay- it has to do with him being a jerk.
I've seen recent polls that show most Americans do not consider homosexuality immoral. I tend to agree that homosexuality, among consenting adults, is morally neither good nor bad.
There is a relationship to gayness and jerkness. Ever read the stats on violent gay deaths?

The homosexuals I've known run the whole gamut. Some are quite nice, some are total jerks. Just my personal experience, of course. I don't hang out in the gay parts of town, usually (though, here in DC, the gay area, Dupont Circle, is also one of the hot nightspots for people of all persuasions), so I might be only getting exposure to a certain segment of the homosexual community.
