The woman at the center of unsubstantiated rumors that Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts had an extramarital affair released a statement on Monday in which she denied any romantic involvement with him.
"I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false," the woman, Alexandra Polier, 27, said in the statement. "Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family."

So is the first mention of this story in the NYT a denial and dismissal?
To: billybudd

Doing a little analysis:
I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry,...
But did he proposition you?
and the rumors in the press are completely false,"...
The only rumor in the press in that General Clark said Kerry would implode.
the woman, Alexandra Polier, 27, said in the statement. "Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me,...
Indisputable fact.
but should know the pain they have caused me and my family."
another factoid.

Well then, obviously a thorough investigation is needed. Kerry needs to come clean.

I believe her; she said no affair. Now my question is "exactly what did happen?". As her father called him a slime ball, SOMETHING HAPPENED!
Why did the parents change their story? Threats, money???

If I got my news from the New York Times, I would be wondering what rumor they were talking about. Amazing how many media outlets refused to carry any story about the rumored affair but are quickly carrying the story about the denial of the rumor.

" I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry,"
Juanita Broadrick could have truthfully said this about her situation with Clinton.Guess it depends on what the meaning of "relationship " is.

Nothing in the NYT's about the parents originally calling Kerry a "sleazeball" and that "he was after their daughter."
This whole story stinks. Democrats LIE. Especially about sex. So I don't believe Poltier's denials or that her parents would actually vote for a "sleazeball" and a guy who was "after their daughter."
On the other hand, Lewinsky's parents still professed admiration for Clinton even after they learned that Bubba and his Doormat were gonna use the sluts n nuts defense were it not for the blue dress.
Hmmm. Is Pellicano out of jail? Did he--or an associate--make a side trip to Malvern, PA. and then Kenya?

Planting the seed of doubt is often more effective than making an outright accusation. The next time something comes up, there will be a predisposition on the part of many to believe the worst.

I was thinking the same thing!! I heard from ABC radio today, EVERY HOUR ON THE HOUR, about a denial from this woman. I thought, now how do they even 'know' what the heck she is denying? No one had even mentioned the rumor before the denial. Amazing.

I want to see her paycheck stubs for the last 3 years, hotel bills, medical and dental records. What she has released has not answered questions that have been raised.

And the parents, Rrepublicans who had previously
denounced Kerry, now say they will vote for him.
Does anyone else smell a payoff?
