In this latter-day land of milk and honey -- Washington, D.C. -- the lawmaker from Louisiana who ramrodded the Medicare drug bill is courted by the pharmaceutical industry to perform duties as its chief lobbyist.
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America thinks GOP Rep. Billy Tauzin, 60, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has earned its offering of a $2 million-plus job.

And now, according to www.lapolitics.com, the jerk is resigning his seat soon. The cost of a special election is peanuts compared to the black hole of the Medicare debacle, but nonetheless proves that Billy is as big a fraud as his girth suggests.

I hope he at least stays put until his term is over. I'd rather not have another special election that could cost us a seat (KY-06 and SD to wit).
Hunt Downer is likely to run for the seat. Too bad I'm not in his district to support him, I liked him during the governor's race.
