Edwards stirs crowd in Madison [abortion rights]

Straying from speech to endorse abortion rights, he's met with cheers

Madison - Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards defended abortion rights Saturday before a Madison audience that included backers of Howard Dean rethinking their first choice in the presidential primary.

Buoyed by Saturday endorsements from Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and the Capital Times newspaper, and aware that his audience included University of Wisconsin-Madison activists, Edwards interrupted his standard stump speech to point to a sign supporting the abortion-rights group Planned Parenthood.

After asking for the sign to be lifted higher, Edwards said, "We have to have a president of the United States who will stand up strongly, loudly and forever for a woman's right to choose."

Edwards did not specifically mention President Bush's anti-abortion positions.

His comment drew overwhelming applause and shouts of support from the more than 500 Democrats and curious voters who stood for more than an hour waiting to hear one of the three main contenders in Tuesday's presidential primary. However, a few in the crowd booed and shouted, "No! No!"

It was the only issue that came close to dividing the crowd, as the North Carolina senator repeated his positive themes of hope, the need to unify around the causes of fighting poverty and racism, and how he has been underestimated his whole life.

There's a few in every crowd. (Thanks be to God.)

Abortion is the bottom-line, no-compromise issue with the Culture of Death fanatics. But it has very little appeal for anyone else. No doubt it plays well in Madison and Ithaca, but it's the kiss of death in most normal parts of the country.

For people so concerned with a womans right to choose, they dont seem too interested in the rights of the unborn.

Just another SLICK-WILLIE clone. The RAT party is heavily populated by them. They just lack the "stones" to admit it.

The core belief of RATs is this: "If ya can't baffle 'em with brilliance, then baffle 'em with bullshite."

They (RATs) only toss the "Baby-Killer" bomb when it involves anyone that does not agree with their agenda.

Exactly. Those who attend Edwards' stump speeches may support unrestricted abortion at any time, for any reason - but see how well that washes with the rest of the country.

Edwards is the perfect rat candidate: a charming sociopath corrupt shyster who supports the core beliefs of the democrat party: Treason, Corruption, and Murdering Babies.

Nah, he's just another wimpy trial-lawyer DemocRat with only about 4 years experience in the Senate. This ain't 1992 - America's been burned once before with a smooth-talking, boyish-looking candidate

His commercials are very impressive here in WI, though.

Liberals (of the ilk that will vote for Edwards, Kerry, Dean, ad neauseum) do have a certain "quality" about them. That is the FACT that they tend to kill their own, through self inflicted attrition, making life easier and less costly (in the long run) for the rest of us.

They support ABORTION on demand (the REAL BABY KILLERS), they are all for the LEGALIZATION of narcotics (Crack Cocaine, Herion, et cetra) resulting in overdose mortality, and early release programs for violent offenders (because they were misunderstood in childhood) and I almost forgot they tend to spread AIDS through their unbridaled passion for the "Alternate Lifestyle".

My main problem with LIBERALS is that they will never take personal responsibility and just throw themselves off a cliff. That, in and of itself is an honest injustice.

Now I see what Edwards is talking about with his "Two Americas" speech. One America is populated with children brought into this world into the loving arms of their parents; the other America consists of children denied that right forevermore due to unrestricted abortion.

Remember, Edwards voted AGAINST the partial birth abortion ban in 1999 (the one that passed, and Clinton vetoed).

This guy cares NOTHING about his constituents. And these idiot Democrat voters are buying into his garbage.
