Was Operation Desert Storm a "necessary" war or was it an "elective" war. It was "elective" if the value chosen is to maximize long-term risks to the national security of the United States. It was "necessary" if the value chosen is to minimize long-term risks to our national security, or, stated conversely, to minimize the dangers that would be maximized absent waging such war. Did the advent of 9-11 make it prudent for us to cease applying a Cold War strategy of "deterrence" to dangers posed by the nexus of interests between terrorists and sociopathic tyrants possessing, or having access to, or having the means to produce tactical quantities of, weapons of mass destruction for mutually beneficial use by such terrorists and sociopathic leaders with otherwise mutually antipathetic interests? Absolutely. Was/is Operation Iraqi Freedom "necessary"? Unequivocally, yes. (This is an excerpt.)

Welcome to FR. I would like to hear your opinion of this article. Do you believe the war on terror was necessary?

Welcome, newbie. Self promotion is frowned upon here, but then you'd know that if you weren't a troll. Enjoy your stay, brief as it will be.

As I type there's no comment on the four articles posted for the site, and one comment for something random.
A hit and run?

"From EditorAtPoliSat.Com | 02/15/2004 2:46:10 PM PST read
Here's what I understood the guidelines to be:
Do keep "vanity" posts to a minimum - Free Republic is primarily a place to discuss news, articles, and editorials. Vanity posts, creations of the poster him or herself, should meet a high standard of quality before one is even considered worthy of posting. Often a relevant current thread or general announcement, catch-all thread is a much better choice for a brief question or comment.
Ostensibly, I must have had an inflated view of the quality of my posting. Everything about my posting explicitly identified who I am. I went out of my way to avoid being perceived as being anyone other than "EditorAtPoliSat.Com," and identifying the site as the source of the commentary (which usually contains links to the news or events which are the subject of the commentary). I infer that it would have been acceptable to state my opinion (in the same manner in which it's stated at PoliSat.Com) and then include the same news-source links as are in the commentary. The way I did it seemed to be simpler, but since my participation seems to elicit questions about my motives, I certainly wont bother posting any more comments."
