February 15, 2004 -- TOKYO - A senior al Qaeda member told U.S. authorities the group had plans to carry out attacks in Japan during the 2002 World Cup soccer tournament, local media reported yesterday.

U.S. authorities advised Japan of the information, which is believed to have come from the militant Islamic group's third-ranking official, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the daily Sankei newspaper reported, citing anonymous sources. The Kyodo news agency carried a similar report.

The attacks were not carried out because al Qaeda did not have a network in Japan . . .

Two reasons why:

  1. Japan takes their immigration laws seriously and quickly moves to deport those who have no business staying there and those who commit crimes.

  2. Japan has no qualms about racial-- or any other kind-- of profiling. A friend of mine there (Iranian by birth) who was married to a Japanese wife always carried his marriage papers when traveling in an out of the country. He admitted it was a minor inconvenience but appreciated the security as he had nothing nice to say about the Mullaocracy.

Wow, al Qaeda is going for it all. They want war with the jews, India, the US, nearly all of Europe, several African countries, Austrailians, the Phillipines, East Timor, now Japan, Russia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and more. It must be very difficult to be mad at so many places and peoples simple for existing. This makes the democrat strategy of "dealing" with them moot. You can not rationally deal with an irrational gang of thugs.

That shows the War on Terrorism is a World War. And we (the civilized world) better treat it as such. The Huns, Mogals and similar barbarians, throughout history, have taken down many great civilizations. al-Qaeda is chipping away at civilization in many locations. al-Qaeda is fighting a war against world civilizations in their attempts to drive the world back to the 7th Century.

You are correct! Can a billion Moslems be wrong? You betcha they can be as wrong as the billion Chinese were to follow Mao and the Gang of Four. Islam is just an older thuggery, not a more legitimate one.

Japanese prisons are probably another reason why Al-Qaeda has found it hard to take root there.
