[history]
Nobody wants to raise this puzzling but important question.
The single most puzzling -- and arguably most important -- question of the day is the one no one raises in public: Why have we not been attacked again?
We are coming up on two and a half years since Sept. 11. Think back: On Sept. 11, everybody was waiting for the other shoe to drop -- within days or weeks, but surely within months. When nothing happened, it was said that al-Qaida works on 18-month cycles, with long planning and preparation.

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - - the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way we come so long without a single attack coming to bear is that an awful lot of bad guys have met their end in a Tom Clancy kinda way and we will never know the true story.

Isn't it obvious? It's because there's no terror threat in the first place. 9/11 was orchestrated by Bush and the CIA to create an illusion of terror. Now that they've accomplished their political objectives, there's no need for more "attacks".
To: Between the Lines
Since 9/11 the RATS have attacked America more than the enemy has. Looks like te enemy is biding it's time, savoring the help.

I'm with you on that! Absolutely. We will NEVER KNOW how many attacks have been thwarted.
I'm still convinced that the duct tape and plastic thing was for an imminent bioattack and that they stopped it. (That time.)

The terrorist are laying low and learning our ways.
Right now they are gathering intelligence in chat rooms known to be visited by Bubba.
Their main agent is a guy who goes by the name of Tawny, a teenage girl who wants to have Bubba's baby.
So far, they can only keep Bubba on line for 63 seconds, then he heads for the nearest sink, then he takes a nap and cruises the press pool.

Great TJ quote. I was listening to the national anthem today and realizing that it is a question. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner still wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave??? It is a question for every single day of the USA's existence. We have to keep that flag waving. It's never to be taken for granted.

I think some of it has been hard work and some of it has been dumb luck. Remember that Reid guy, the shoe bomber? If he'd had a Bic lighter there would have been another attack in just a couple of months. I am sure there have been others. Maybe even this weekend when the stopped a flight.
From Al Qaeda's point of view, they probably got a lot of mileage out of 9/11 for quite some time. Maybe the anthrax, too. And in other parts of the world, they may seem more active than here -- they have hit many, many targets and to people in those countries, those were major.

It is obvious by the liberal reaction to the Patriot Act and Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom that telling even half of what the CIA and friends are really doing to stop terror would cause the Left to have a conniption fit. To quote Jack Nicholson - "You can't hanlde the truth!"

Apparently you are wrong.
There is evidence that Iraq was involved in the OKC bombing and there is strong evidence that a terrorist group brought down TWA 800.
Party boy wanted no part of terrorism and ordered evidence to point in a different direction.
Besides the tempo had changed after 9/11 to direct attacks on the U.S. as a result of party boy's inaction and the belief that we would do nothing.
So your point is invalid.

Pass on that info to the White House. They would love to have it. Somehow I bet they wn't use it.

It looks like they are solving the problem in the present.

Why Hasn't America Been Attacked Again? Because Al Queda is so frightened of JOHN KERRY that they are terrified that he would be elected President and REALLY get tough on them. So they have held off.
lol

To be honest, I probably couldn't handle the truth either. But, I am humbled by the fact that there are men who can handle the truth and handle the ugly situations we don't want to deal with, and that they do it without the approval or honors they deserve from the speak no, hear no, see no evil citizens that they protect.
I stand in silent awe of the silent heros who's sacrifices I will never know.
To: Burkeman1
Great logic. We weren't attacked for years after the first WTC bombing under Clinton either. Did Kraut boy write a column about that? Stupid and weak argument.
Why do you call Charles Krauthammer that name? He is a great columnist. Perhaps you are mixing him up with paul Krugman
