A day after the arrest of 26-year-old Army Specialist Ryan Anderson his friends are shocked by the news. Anderson is accused of aiding the enemy by trying to communicate with Al Quaeda. Morgan Potter lived in the same WSU apartment building as Anderson. He calls Anderson fun-loving and just like everybody else. However, Potter admits -there's a lot he doesn't know about his friend, including what the government calls Anderson's extreme ideology of the Muslim faith.
"The only link I knew Ryan had to Islam was the fact he was a history major and he joined the army to go over there," said Potter.
Anderson's college roommate, Carl Halmo, says he watched Anderson convert to Islam - first by visiting a Pullman area mosque.
"I remember him saying that he went there and what they said actually made sense, he agreed with it," said Halmo.
Anderson is no stranger to police in his hometown of Everett, Washington. In 1998, he was arrested for carrying rifles down the street and past an elementary school, the day after a major school shooting in Oregon. However, he was never charged.

Only Islam brainwashes people to commit murder.
Does anyone know of a convert to any other religion who aspires to kill people as part of their Faith?

The more important question is, how will this piece of treasonous filth be swept under the carpet? It can't be blamed on his conversion, Islam is such a peaceful religion.
BTW, I haven't heard much about the one who tossed a grenade into the tent of his superior officers about a year ago.

You got that right, Hildy.
I looked up his Usenet postings. In '95, he was describing himself as a "committed Christian" and trying to join a militia. By '96, he was asking for advice on converting to Islam. At one point, he was hanging out in skinhead forums. Gaming, second amendment rights forums, military history forums. A lonely, loser kid looking for a clique - preferably with shooting involved.
Don't get me wrong - he should be punished. He just shouldn't be overestimated.

overestimated, overestimated, good point, that is exactly why his trial and execution if found guilty should be televised. that should prevent little thrillseekers from taking a similiar career path. much like a car alarm prevents joyriders.

Then you don't understand the minds of little thrill-seekers very well. A televised trial? Man, that's almost as good as being a rock star.

$10,000 says this terrorist went to the same mosque as the saudi-backed, former MSA president and muslim terrorist Sami Omar al-Hussayen.

What, no mention that he was an honors student? Isn't that what we usually hear about these miscreants?
To: tubavil
The small Muslim community in Moscow has no formal imam, or religious leader, and Mr. Hussayen often led Friday prayers at the Islamic Center, a small two-story house near campus. In talks at the mosque, Mr. Hussayen would sometimes "include some politics," such as criticism of Israel and the U.S. policy toward Iraq, says Mr. Mossaad. "But it was more about religion itself and fasting and things like that."

Islamic Center, a small two-story house near campusHow odd...
And that's exactly what the terrorist MSA had a fundraiser for in Seattle last night, the "islamic house" just a block away from the main UW campus.
The Islamic House Fundraiser.

will that be flayed skin or slow disembowelment with those fries? Yes, yes...it's really fun to strut around with your chest thrust out. It is not, however, very helpful.
There's a reason why everyone from Nazi Youth to the Red Guard to the Khmer Rouge to Hamas to the Taliban recruit from lost, lonely, stupid young people. Teenage social outcasts are drawn to danger, violence, hierarchical organizations and black-and-white ideologies. You aren't going to scare them off with martyrdom (see Palestine).
No, I'm definitely not saying we should tackle "root causes" - alienated teenagers are a fact of life. But, for goodness sakes let's not glamorize a dumbass lamer into an attractive, exciting outlaw.

Actually, taking the mollycoddling and psychobabble out of the way, teaching responsibility and self-respect goes a long way in stopping these kids from being the prey of such groups.
I don't know if you saw the videotapes the columbine kids took of themselves prior to the massacre they commited, they weren't "scared little boys" who were picked on by school bullies, they were just little @ssholes who would have been still alive and their classmates and teachers had they been a swift kick in the @ass and passed on the Oprah self-esteem lessons.
Take all the last words you want, I'm not getting sucked into some empty argument about lack of self-discipline which is exactly what these people want and get when they join such organizations!
