Netherlands to expel 26,000 immigrants

AMSTERDAM, : The Netherlands has announced plans to expel as many as 26,000 failed asylum seekers to their native countries, The Times of London reported.

The deportation order amounts to one in 600 of the population, and mostly affects people from Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia. Some have been in the Netherlands for 11 years, speak Dutch, have integrated into society and have children settled in schools, the newspaper said.

The deportation order was proposed a month ago by Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk, and passed into law by the Dutch parliament after a bitter debate.

Some protesters entered the parliament's gallery and unveiled a banner comparing the policy to the Holocaust deportations during World War II.

Verdonk quickly dismissed the comparison. "We have careful procedures in the Netherlands," she said. "This cannot be compared with Jews, who were put on a train to the gas chamber." The deportations will begin this summer and run for about three years.—

"We have careful procedures in the Netherlands,"

Then explain to me why you're kicking out people 11 years after they've been in your country?

They see what is happening in france and the U.S. and are simply determined to NOT have other cultures dictating how they should live. Gotta give them credit for taking a stand before they sink.

Good for them. We should follow their example.

I have lived in Europe almost 4 years. I am amazed they are doing this.

The Islamic community does not obey Western laws. They close themselves off----and claim "Sharia Law" to the point that if they want to kill their own daughters---no one can interfere.

God help us.

Same reason as why convicted mass murderers condemned to death are still alive 20 years after being convicted in our own country. Touchy-feelie politics, political correctness and stupidity.

:-)

It's quite interesting that in Holland (and elsewhere), gays are some of the first to speak up about the inherent problems of Islamic immigration.

The one frustration about this "news" story is how incomplete it is. Why only 26000? What is the basis for the deportation?

Inquiring minds can't help but wonder...

Why?

Survival as a western, Dutch nation. It's either this or start measuring themselves for burkhas and headscarves.

Yeah.

Guess where the 26,000 are going to end up?...

The rest of the world will sound a quick note of disapproval, then move on.

Now, if the United States tried anything like this, look out!

"Netherlands to expel 26,000 immigrants"

26,000 wouldn't even begin to scratch the surface. It's essentially too late for the Dutch. Their culture has been eroded and winnowed away by liberal immigration policies. We should take a lesson from them, but it'll never happen.

Thanks for the tip, but all of that other thread fails to answer the obvious question. What constitutes "failed refugees"?
It seems to me that a doctor would not qualify as "failed" in any reasonable sense of the word. Why would she be deported whereas I am sure that tens of thousands of foreign criminals remain?
