"This used to be a rich country with no social problems and no crime. Now, because of the socialism, it has become full of social, ethnic and political problems."

Nice quote from the article you referenced.

Of course, you don't need socialism to have these problems, but it certainly doesn't help.

btw - Amsterdam was the only place where anyone ever called me the N-word to my face - I was just standing around minding my own business and I'm not even dark skinned!

"Then explain to me why you're kicking out people 11 years after they've been in your country?"

I'd say they have come to a point where they realize there are some people that are just freeloaders on whomever they can freeload off of.

We in America would like to be able to follow through with our "oppressed, tired, poor .. " etc. reception, but that sentiment was when there was only one way in (by boat into Ellis Island) and was not abused to any great extent.

Today, there are people from all over the planet that can't or won't do anything for themselves and go to a country that makes an attempt to be humanitarian. Unfortunately, the goodness of a nation is being destroyed by the badness of some people(s).

I haven't gone to Capt. Tom's link, but I would hope there is a breakdown of the nationalities involved. It would be enlightening to know that data.

OK ... I went to the link and I found two nationalities mentioned.

Iranians and Turks.

Two people from those countries were interviewed and they both refered to themselves (and all of the others) as immigrants.

The tone of the article doesn't seem to agree with that definition.

Maybe they got tired of their girls being raped ..."Leb Style"....and have had enough of the "Religion of Peace"
Why let terrorists breed in your country...when they have sworn an oath to Allah to drive you from it...kill you or convert you...let you live the life of a Dhimmi in your own land...

Publius asks; Why only 26000? What is the basis for the deportation?

The article states: The Netherlands has announced plans to expel as many as 26,000 failed asylum seekers.

I would gather that these people were granted "temporary asylum" which later over course of years was proven to be unjustified. Same as known illegals in our country linger for many years because of the appeals process provided to them.

I think America is better off, but the advantage is eroding even under Republican administrations :-(

You cannot combine mass immigration with welfare states. Add muslims into the equation and you have got a disaster on your hands.

What constitutes "failed refugees"?

Countries can set any standard they want for refugees.

High on the priority list are political refugees or non-criminal people who if returned to their country would be killed by the Government or the Dictator or would be allowed to live and suffer severely.

If a country doesn't allow economic refugees then they are the ones who will be sent back.

There are a zillion excuses made for refugee status as opposed to legal immigration, and if a wealthy country doesn't take a hard line on refugees. It will be overrun with foreign refugees who just want a better place to be than the hell hole they were born into. Or groups who have an agenda. (You dumb infidel)

Legal immigration is the route for foreigners who want to immigrate to another country. The waiting line is long so you get the line jumpers, "I'm a homosexual Arab and if I go back they will kill me, or the genital mutilation if I am returned story from the women, and a zillion other pleas. I converted to Christianity and my Muslim friends and neighbors will kill me and my family if I am sent back.

I would imagine this group the Dutch are deporting are economic refugees.

What gets lost on most American's in the present immigration debate is that when our relatives came here from the shit and squalor they lived in, they were welcome to do the same here in America if they couldn't find work.

Today we are running a welfare state and you won't suffer from any of your bad decisions, like having children you can't afford or not being able to find work. Vote for the socialists (Dems) they will get you someone else's money becomes apparent to the new immigrant whether they have a job or not. - Tom

The United States and current President GWBush had better quickly ACT in a similar manner on behalf of our LEGAL citizens, or he will LOSE his reelection, and his dereliction of duty will soon lead to blood in our streets, all over this nation.

So far it has mostly been the blood and loss of U.S. Citizens (28% of prison pop. are ILLEGALS) but if this massive invasion of ILLEGALS is ALLOWED to continue, combined with the loss of decent paying jobs and our declining standard of living, IT WILL GET VERY UGLY before it gets corrected, I PROMISE.

Things sure won't get better with the democrats running the country. They're the reason we're in this mess, now.

The deportation order amounts to one in 600 of the population, and mostly affects
people from Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia.

Why wouldn't they want to return to their stabilizing Islamic Republics?

No welfare checks, maybe.

Yeah, the 26,000 will be ariving in the the United States within 6 months, and no doubt, we'll offer them housing, medication, food, etc all on the backs of the tax payers.

Middle Easterners streaming to Texas

Texas has one of the nation's fastest-growing Middle Eastern populations, and most of the state's immigrants live in Houston, according to a study based on census data.

Researchers at the Center for Immigration Studies say Texas' Middle Eastern population more than doubled in the last decade, to just over 100,000, including more than 52,000 in Greater Houston.
