How Bush’s Opponents Use a Goebbels Formula
NY Sun ^ | ALICIA COLON | Alicia Colon

Did you know that President Bush has hazel eyes? I didn’t. I was under the impression his eyes were blue until I read his DD214, which everyone in the left-stream press seemed to have trouble finding until this week.

This discharge form confirms that George Bush did, indeed, get an honorable discharge from the National Guard. He served five years, four months, and five days. He was scheduled to serve six but left early, as permitted, to return to school.

The DD214 is a standard military form, but Terry McAuliffe, head of the DNC, doesn’t see it that way.

“George Bush never served in the military and our country,” he said February 1 on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” Perhaps he would like to explain that to the 6,140 National Guardsmen who served in Vietnam, or perhaps send his regrets to the families of the 101 who were killed.

The cover of this week’s Time magazine shows two faces of the president with the words “Does Bush Have a Credibility Gap?” between them.

Hitler’s chief propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, invented the following formula: Invent the lie; repeat it often, and it will become the truth, no matter what the facts are. Mr. Bush’s opponents are using this formula to try to convince the country he is a liar. They are repeatedly insisting the president said the danger from Iraq was imminent. Mr. Bush actually said we must not wait until it’s imminent.

They insist Mr. Bush referred to a discredited Niger nuclear connection in his 2002 State of the Union address. Lying Al Franken repeats this lie in his book, “Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them.” Mr. Bush never once mentioned Niger. The BBC reporter who charged Mr. Bush and Prime Minister Blair overhyped this nuclear threat in Africa has admitted he had no basis for this assertion and two BBC officials have resigned in disgrace.

None of this will mean anything to Mr. Bush’s enemies. Michael Moore and other Hollywood celebrities are so eager to dethrone Dubya that they will resort to the meanest, vilest, most profane language to stir up the masses. ABBA, according to Newsweek’s Anna Quindlen, is not a Swedish singing group but rather a person who lives in the Upper West Side of Manhattan and will vote for Anybody But Bush Again.

For anyone truly interested in learning the truth about Mr. Bush’s National Guard duty, please go online and read the Washington Times op-ed by retired Colonel William Campenni.

I watched our president being grilled this Sunday by Tim Russert on “Meet the Press.” Mr. Bush is admittedly not very telegenic. He is not glib. Words do not mellifluously flow from his lips. He tends to “er” and “umm” a lot.He is a good man,a decent man,and when Mr. Russert brought up the ridiculous charge of the National Guard again, his response was,“It’s fine to go after me, which I expect the other side will do. I wouldn’t denigrate service to the Guard, though, and the reason I wouldn’t,is because there are a lot of really fine people who served in the National Guard and who are serving in the National Guard today in Iraq.”

The trouble with both Bushes, pere et fils, is that they are too patrician. I would dearly have loved to see Dubya belt Mr. Russert during the hour-long inquisition for wasting his valuable time over the same dumb questions. Am I the only one sick and tired of hearing about WMDs? Did Hitler have weapons of mass destruction? Were we in imminent danger of attack from Germany? Why didn’t we just attack Japan after Pearl Harbor? Hitler managed to kill millions of people. Were we supposed to ignore that? There have been 263 mass graves found in Iraq, some reportedly with as many as 10,000 bodies. The stories of Saddam’s atrocities are legion and this means absolutely nothing to the ABBAs.

Here’s a reminder, you moronic nimrods: WE ARE AT WAR. Maniacs flew jets into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.Thousands died. There is no conventional way to attack people who cannot be reasoned with. They are immune to diplomacy. You in your safe apartments can kvetch all you want about Mr. Bush’s social agendas but it will mean nothing if we don’t defeat the enemy. You cannot reason with these fanatics. They want to kill you.

Not one of Mr. Bush’s opponents seems to understand this. Front-runner John Kerry seems to think that his war record in Vietnam outweighs Mr. Bush’s National Guard duty. Not so fast, senator from the state that keeps re-electing Chappaquiddick Kennedy. Your tour in Vietnam and Purple Hearts for superficial wounds won’t be able to overshadow your connection with Hanoi Jane, so don’t expect Vietnam vets to forget that your anti-war efforts doomed your fellow soldiers. We did not lose in Vietnam. We quit. Is that what you want us to do in Iraq?

I,for one,am not that impressed with war heroes who conspired against their country in wartime. After all, Benedict Arnold was one, too.

I am just so damn pissed and these gutless lefties. We need a veteran protest at DNC or something.

Me too. I don't really like either party (see the handle), but the Dims are just so downright nasty to the military and veterans it's sickening. The Republican half of the party is definitely preferable.

No offense, but I don't think that Bush(43) has a DD-214 as he was in the Air National Guard. I believe he has the National Guard equivalent, the NGB Form 22. This is the same mistake that former Senator Max Cleland made on Hardball when he said that everyone who left the military has a DD-214. In his zeal to damn Bush, he showed his continuing ignorance by assigning the specific term "DD-214" to be the requirement to prove Bush(43)'s term of service, instead of the correct NGB Form 22. Sort of like saying the brand name "Kleenex" instead of the generic "facial tissue".

Bottom line, Bush(43) does not have a DD-214, but he does have an NGB Form 22 for his Air National Guard service.

Bush NGB Form 22

Bush(43) NGB Form 22

Hope this helps...

This is excellent. Too bad it is too long for a tag line:

Vote and campaign against every Democrat currently running for office anywhere, as if your life depended on it. Someday, it may!

Arnold did not lose a leg. His leg was severely injured at Saratoga. There is a monument to his leg, but it does not bear his name.

Arnold was posted to West Point partly to enable him to recover. Alas, his wife had convinced him by then. Had he only married better, he could have been President.

A few minutes later Arnold caught up with some of Learned's Connecticut militia. "My old Norwich and New London friends," he shouted as he rode by, and the cheers of the men rang in his ears. Within moments Arnold was at the head of Learned's brigade, exhorting the troops to follow him, "Come on brave boys, come on!" Three of Learned's regiments charged uphill into withering fire from Specht's men. American and German cannon exchanged canister fire. Finally, as Balcarres' British troops fled past their position, the Germans broke.

Fraser was still trying to form a new line on the right, but one of Morgan's sharpshooters put an end to that. Conspicuous in his scarlet and white uniform and mounted on a large gray horse, Fraser suddenly crumpled backward with a bullet in his abdomen (see "Americans," June 2000). He would die the next morning.

By this time most of Burgoyne's men had fallen back to the protection of the two massive redoubts the British had built at Freeman's Farm during the weeks after the first battle. Arnold wasted no time leading a charge against the nearest to him, the Balcarres Redoubt. He waved his sword and dashed among the troops as musket balls and grapeshot whizzed around them. But the huge log walls--bristling with abatis and defended by desperate infantry--kept the Americans out.

Looking north toward the less-heavily defended Breymann Redoubt, Arnold spied an opening, and in a heartbeat he raced for it through a hail of lead. As Morgan and Dearborn attacked it head-on, Arnold led a furious charge toward a pair of cabins that separated the fortifications, then turned his force headlong into the Breymann Redoubt's unprotected left flank. Dozens of shocked Germans dropped in the rush; countless others ran for their lives.

Arnold had just entered the works when a German soldier fired at him, striking him in the same leg he had nearly lost in the Quebec Expedition. Another bullet killed his horse, which fell and crushed Arnold's leg beneath it. As Massachusetts soldiers chased off enemy soldiers and burned British tents, Connecticut militiamen carried Arnold off the field. His left leg was ruined, but Arnold would not allow it to be amputated. Several agonizing months of recovery would leave it two inches shorter than the right.

By now darkness had fallen and the Second Battle of Saratoga had ended. At 1:00 a.m., with his army shattered, Burgoyne issued an order for the troops still on the field to withdraw. British and German losses for the day totaled 278 killed, 331 wounded, and 285 captured--roughly half the force that had ventured forth that morning. American casualties came to about 130. Burgoyne's dream of conquering the northern colonies for the Crown had clearly ended.

I think the dems are so desperate.Thay are also SO hypocritical they didn't have a proplem with Bill Clition running with his tail inbetween his legs to avoid going to Vietnam. I mean at least President Bush was in the Air Force, Cliton wasn't in the milatary at all!! Now that the dems are behind a candidate who was in the navy they are all pro-military and are saying that Pres Bush is disloyal to his country becuse he didn't go to Vietnam. Again just look what Cliton did during that time. Also, John Kerry has voted to cut down on the milatary in the senate! But I will say this,at least Kerry was in the Vietnam war, he fought for his country and saved a man's life. But when he came back form Vietnam he became an anti-war nut. He was with nutty antiwar hippies, like Jane Fonda who was a pro commei bic_h. He made speeches that where pro communist, anti american and, ofcourse, atacked then president Nixon, who was a very good president. I think the Dems will lose with Kerry if he is to be nominated. He is so full of himself and gives long winded speeches. He is also a big taxer who wants to repeal most of the Bush taxcuts which is just asking for bigger taxes. He voted on the first gulf war and this second one too, and he then starts to attack them both. WHAT A HYPOCRITE! I just think his recerd in the Vietnam war and in the senate will bite him in the ass when or even if he runs agenst President Bush this fall.

BUSH CHEYNEY '04'!
