TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Jeb Bush and the parents of a severely brain-damaged woman won appellate court rulings in their favor Friday on two legal issues in their quest to keep the woman alive against her husband's wishes.
Florida's 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled that Pinellas Circuit Court Judge W. Douglas Baird did not follow judicial rules when he denied Terri Schiavo's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, the ability to intervene in the constitutional challenge to a law aimed at keeping the 40-year-old woman alive.
The appeals court also ruled that Bush's attorneys will be allowed to question witnesses in the court battle over the law, which gave the governor authority to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube after her husband had it removed in October.
The appeals court ordered Baird to hold further proceedings on the issue.
Schiavo's husband, Michael, has been battling the Schindlers in court for years to remove his wife's feeding tube so she can die. He says she would not have wanted to be kept alive artificially.
The Schindlers doubt their daughter, who lives in a Clearwater nursing home, had any such end-of-life wishes and believe her condition could improve with therapy. She has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990 when she collapsed from a chemical imbalance.

This "keeping her alive against her husband's wishes" mantra of mainstream journalists is sickening.
Can't they see the bias of that phrase?
Or do they just not care? -- after all, journalists are taught not to be objective anymore, but to help promote their politically correct causes.

Yeah!!!!!!! Excellent news. More prayers needed... God Bless Terri and her REAL family!

This is good news.
Are there any Nevada FReepers out there who could send a Letter to the Editor correcting this mistatement:
She has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990 when she collapsed from a chemical imbalance.
The Right to Kill crowd keeps harping that Terri is in a
persistent vegetative state. We know that's incorrect. We also know that she did not leave a "Living Will" requesting that her life be ended if she had to be kept alive artificially.

In these times, a favorable court ruling almost feels like a miracle. What is so creepy is that if he didn't want to be with her anymore, he should've just let her parents take care of her. That would've at least have been understandable. But this relentless assault to have her die, was the strange thing.

You're right. I have recently been made aware that in FL if MS were to divorce Terri she would be entitled to half the assets (I'm no expert here but heard on news) so that explains a lot. He lives in an expensive home (not in his name of course). But still the "judges" who have been ruling in this case should have disqualified MS from being Terri's guardian long ago because there is more than one statute which he has not complied with and he is guilty of a misdemeanor in Fl by living in adultery.

Yes, a husband who lives with a mistress and has two children with her and has abused Terri, even denied her Last Communion, flowers in her room, and necessary medical treatment; a husband who wants her to be starved to death."
