Thanks! I'm giving this information to my bay area friends, and hope that they will show up.

Much appreciated - the size of this crowd is crucial in determining how much media coverage we get. We will not have a better opportunity to have so many news outlets with cameras and reporters present as we will next Saturday.

Please everyone, let's not start with the McClintock/Swartznegger, I told you so rant's. We got our guy in and we disagree with him on this one, but we had no chance of getting McClintock in.

Now, as to the licensing issue, anyone have a summary of what's different about this bill, i.e. is it just the same with some check for terrorists or something ... they probably added a question "did you ever own an Uzi?" to the licensing questions ...

Seriously, what's the dif? I like the rational in 'why don't they use their own legal Mexican licenses?' ... I think there's a poster or two there! Of course the reason is that they would have to go home to Mexico to renew them every 4 years and that's an inconvenience!! ;-) I bet Fox would fix that for them, with a mail order plan.

Eventually Kaloogian will do something they don't like and they'll be crying again.

I love it. Finally, the conservatives are rising up against lying politicians, and kicking them out. Arnold doesn't deserve to be dog catcher.

I voted for Kaloogian (you can vote early at your local registrar--San Diego is using optical scan for that while precints will use touch screen) to oppose Boxer in the fall but I don't know it'll do much good.

This is BULL. Arnold *ALWAYS* said the issue was about security and lack of provisions in the "licenses for illegals" scam last year. This was his clear and forthright position on the issue.

I disagree with his thinking that it *can* be made 'safe' but that doesn't make him a "liar" or anything less than having shown his cards all along. People who claim otherwise are playing politics of envy (McClintock--loser, can you hear me?).

Pretty amazing, isn't it? You'd think Arnold might have noticed what got the natives upset, but apparently not. I suppose when we start beating the war drums and roll out the pot with his name on it next to Gray's, he might start seeing the light. There is no limit to how many Governors we can recall.

>> So Arnold the Rino gets elected primarily on the back of saying that he'll repeal the original law and then he turns around and supports a different one. You folks in CA can't catch a break.

We WARNED them over and over again that RINOs only make promises to get elected and then break them. There was plenty of evidence with past RINO "leaders" -- Bloomberg, George Ryan, Sundquist, Whitman, etc., etc.

They refused to listen and screamed that anyone who doesn't blindly support RINOs is a "kool-aid drinking, death for electablity, purist nutcase"

Well, the California Republicans got their socialist RINO. And they DESERVE him. I hope they enjoy three more years of Davis with an "R" next to his name.

but we had no chance of getting McClintock in.

Fine. We have no chance of getting ANY good Republican in, right?

Let's give up and vote Democrat!

EVERY battle is crucial here. And it does not help to go into battles armed with wet noodles.

No - it's not bull at all. You are incorrect.

Schwarzenegger made it a campaign promise to repeal the bill and his support for a re-introduction of the bill is an "t tu Brutus?" slap in the face to the millions of California voters who agreed with him that SB 60 had to go.

Here's the December 4th report from NBC News - San Diego: "SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered on his second key campaign pledge by repealing a bill that would have allowed an estimated 2 million illegal immigrant drivers in California to begin applying for driver's licenses after Jan. 1.

Schwarzenegger, who promised to overturn the license law within 100 days of taking office, signed the repeal bill on his 17th day with no ceremony or pictures. "

What I don't get is that Arnold has a very savvy political team that reads the polls very closely.

The polls show 70% of Californians OPPOSED SB60.

So, since he made it a campaign promise, I don't know why on earth he would then fulfill it only to then basically flip-flop?

The people are with him. He was right in the first place. Not only is there no outcry from the public to give drivers' licenses to illegal aliens, there is a STRONG outcry NOT TO.

This is bizarre. It makes me think Arnold believes this is important to his efforts to work in a "bi-partisan" fashion with the Democrats. I applaud his optimism in working with those who disagree with him. However, I frown on his ignorance of history which shows that ANY time a Repub leader in California has appeased Democrat wishes on policy it resulted in BAD POLICY for the people of California.

Arnold forgets that the Democrats will cut him up into a million pieces at the first sign of political weakness by Arnold - in terms of support from the public. Just as they waited for Bush to get 'soft' in the polls to end their 'cordial' post-9/11 working relationship, so they will with Arnold. He should be careful not to antagonize his base so that he can count on them when he is (inevitably) attacked.

Besides law enforcement, Schwarzenegger said that the problem was the issue of "fraud" - I am not quite sure what he means by that. I guess that would be open to interpretation.

Arnold's mentors are connected with the White House. And granting CDLs to illegals, like granting them a "No blanket amnesty" amnesty, is what Karl Rove and Company want Arnold to do. He's being the good soldier. But maybe he'll learn to be his own man after he runs into the firestorm waiting for him when he pushes his bill.
