You are talking about electibility in the general election. On that, I agree with you, although I maintain that it is not as big a deal as the other things that I listed (although voters may, as you suggest, think otherwise).
I doubt it will injure him in the Democrat primary.
Although, if the woman did flee the country at his behest, and if there was some sort of hush money paid or threats made, then I may reconsider, big time. That's the part of the story that has my eyebrows raised.
