How to Apply for an Internship
Senator Kerry's offices welcome the assistance of volunteers who wish to experience the inside workings of a Senate office.

In Washington:
A limited number of volunteer internships are available to students (usually at the college level) in my Capitol Hill office. To start the application process, complete the Intern Application and return it with a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and two letters of recommendation to the address listed on the application. Questions can be sent to Mary Tarr at mary_tarr@kerry.senate.gov or addressed to her in Senator Kerry's Washington office.

Winter/Spring internships for 2003 are full, but we are accepting applications for summer 2004. The deadline for summer applications is March 15.

*Mail service to Capitol Hill is significantly delayed because of security precautions. Therefore, applicants are strongly encouraged to e-mail completed applications to mary_tarr@kerry.senate.gov or fax to (202) 228-1411.

In Massachusetts
Summer semester - from June through August
Application Deadline: April 15th

Fall Semester - from September through December
Application Deadline: August 25th

January - month-long intensive program
Application Deadline: December 20th

Spring Semester - from February through May
Application Deadline: January 15th

If you are interested in applying for any of our state internship programs, please fill out the Intern Application (below) and send it to One Bowdoin Square, 10th Floor, Boston, MA 02114 along with a cover letter, resume and recommendation. Only complete application packages will be accepted. For further information please contact either Roger Lau or Alison Silberman in my Boston office at 617/565-8519.

For information about volunteer internships in any of my four state offices, please complete the Intern Application and return to the Boston office. Questions can be sent to Roger Lau at roger_lau@kerry.senate.gov or to my Boston office.
