BERLIN (Hollywood Reporter) - The Berlin Film Festival has gotten a much-needed shot of levity when Robin Williams turned the news conference for Omar Naim's sci-fi thriller "The Final Cut" into a free-association comedy routine.
Williams got the biggest laughs from the packed room of international journalists and critics on Wednesday when he started taking shots at the Bush government and its search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
"Bush is complaining about a lack of intelligence, which seems sort of redundant," Williams joked. "They say they don't know if Iraq had any WMDs -- well, all they have to do is ask (Vice President Dick) Cheney for the receipts."
Set in a near future in which people can have a computer chip implanted in their brains that records their entire lives, "The Final Cut" was well received by the Berlin crowd in its competition bow, with hearty cheers greeting it at the sold-out press screenings.
Williams plays a video editor who splices together the deceased's recorded memories, cutting out anything unpleasant to make horrible lives into picture postcards.
Asked what he would cut out of the movie of his life, Williams quipped, "Probably those years I was drinking -- but that seems to have happened already."

I didn't say Babs "plays to the troops." Republicans. Don't distort what I say. Not denouncing his "entertainment" of our troops. Been there, done that. Only denouncing his words/actions deeds.Again, Williams is a virulent anti. If you enjoy being "entertained" by people who are working hard to strip away our RKBA, fine...and the band played on...

Whatever floats your boat guy. If you don't like Williams, no one is going to make you watch him. I will watch him. I don't care if it bothers you.
To: veronica
Whenever Robin Williams tries to pontificate, the expression "..a flea fart in a hurricane" comes to mind.
He used that little gem himself during some big media shindig in D.C. a few years ago.
To: Prodigal Son
Well, you are certainly correct there. "No one is going to make you watch him." It bothers me not at all that you choose to. Merely pointing his background. He is working against us...assuming of course, you are one of "us."
To: donozark
I don't care what his background is. He makes me laugh. End of story.
I don't care if you think I'm one of "you" or not. If you want, hit abuse or notify Jim Rob.
I've got my opinion. I'm not ashamed of it. I'm not going to change it or hide it just because you're 1997 vintage or because of the subtle 'one of us' threat.
To: Prodigal Son
Gee, are you paranoid or what? "Threat?" Where? How?
"Hit the abuse button?" What on earth for?
Didn't mean to insult one of your personal heroes. Even if he is a shit-heel. A gun-grabbing low-life. A consumate Clinton apologist/appeazer. But hey, have a nice day...
To: veronica
Or Death To Smoochy. :)
I thought that was a GREAT flick! More due to Ed Norton than Robin Williams though...
To: donozark
He's not a hero of mine. I would opt for Rick Rescorla personally. Williams makes me laugh and I like his movies. Again, I don't care if you like it or not.
I'm not paranoid. I've been around the block a few times. I understand the 'one of us' thing and don't even try to pretend...
You have a nice day too.

My statement that seems to have so upset you was in no way threatening, nor exclusionary. Regret you took it as such. I was simply referring to "us" in the sense of RKBA crowd, here on FR. I thought it obvious. I was positive I had "talked" with you before on one of the numerous gun threads. Guess not.
Pleased you get to travel so much. I hope to someday...

Robin Williams is supposed to be a comedic genius ?...
Evidently NOT... Red diaper baby, probably, like Billy Cystal.
To: Prodigal Son
I like Robin Williams. He has brought me a lot of entertainment in this life.Probably not with Bicentennial Man, though.
I mean... c'mon. NObody likes Bicentennial Man. :)

Humor is when there is a bit of truth in it which makes it funny. The problem with people such as Robin is there is no truth in their "joke" so hence it is not funny!!!
It is not that we have lost our sense of humor, it is that these "jokes" are just hit pieces which do no serve to be humerous.

#41. Evidently, You need to study history, Berlin was right at the heart of the Nazi Party! and since europe(not capitolised on purpose) acts like it still contains many Nazi's with ALL the anti semitism among other things, I'll call it what it unfortunately remains, Nazi soil! So Robin Williams can keep his sorry *ss in Naziville okay? Thank You!!!!

I'll call it what it unfortunately remains, Nazi soil! Well you're just silly then. That's ridiculous. The Nazis were defeated. They weren't in power for that long but for people like you with minds that just need to hate- Germany has always been a Nazi nation, it always will be a Nazi nation.
Next you'll be telling me all Germans are Nazis.
To: KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
Probably not with Bicentennial Man, though. Actually I never saw that one. Based on an Asimov story though. I like Asimov's work.
To: Prodigal Son
That does not mean that ALL the Nazi's were neutralised. I Also see France is still very much Vichy as well!!!!
