I have a different take on why the nation state is finished. In most states, our's included, there is a splintering of populations and ethnic groups over ideology and economics. The reason is exposure to television and the spread of communications over the internet.

Smaller groups can organize and as they do, become more forceful for change. The rise of terrorism, against established states, shows a glimpse of the future. It would have been unthinkable that a group of terrorists could forestall the wishes of a super-power such as ours in the past.

Now we have them in our midst and they have options to communicate and plan attacks. If we have so much trouble containing them, how could a global governance hope to control? The world will be a mass of small groups and their peculiarities rather than a global behemoth. We are divided as never before in our country, this is happening all over the world.

The future will be more war-like as these different groups seek tribal and ethnic community. The end result will be more freedom and independence for all people but a pain for those trying to maintain nation status. The fifteenth century established the nation state and it has endured for five hundred years. This century will see the dismantling of centralized governance and smaller units of government established. My tinfoil hat is screwed down, flame away.

I think that the article makes many sound points; but is flawed in that it focuses too much attention on one writer, Bartley, rather than the broader ideological movement of which he may indeed have been a prominent cog. There is danger on focusing too heavily on individuals. I am not at all against fixing blame--to the extent that we can;--but it is more important to nail down the consequences of the notions that individuals promote; to fully understand the real issues; and to put the debate in a broader context.

My Chapter on Myths & Myth Makers In American "Higher" Education, deals in a large part with several of those who contributed to the same mindset as Mr. Bartley from somewhat different perspectives. It is important to understand that the Bartleys of the world have more success than they would on the narrower frame of reference that they represent, because of the academic climate created by those who see an undifferentiated humanity as an ideal--not just a way to maximize profits (in which situation, it is a profoundly foolish approach, for a variety of reasons).

I have been fighting those who advocate and advocated World Government since I was a school boy, and I assure you that they come in many different varieties, with sometimes very different motivations. Once you understand the complexity behind their support, you can begin to effectively counter it.

Organization of American States
Otherwise known as the OAS. What is bilderberger about that? Maybe you can explain?

They host the summit of the Americas process which brought the United States such concepts as social security for illegal immigrants and the white house illegal immigrant amnesty plan.

I might add: The Chinese society is on a monumental growth curve. They have unlimmited labor and an awesome willingness and ability to exploit that labor. They are building factories faster than we are building strip-centers.

They have none of the PC impediments to expansion and growth that we have saddled ourselves with. They have little of the red tape strangling our society.

If you have kids .... FORCE them to learn chinese and study marketing and business or science. The chinese will entirely eclipse our society over the next three decades. NOTHING can even slow them.

Thanks again, Mercy. I have saved your comments for future reference.

For Americans, unfortunately, the growth of our investments rests on Pacific Rim countries. When our Dow declines, their indices rise. As a result of this knowledge I have invested recently in several mutual funds that have targeted Asian markets.

One is the Korea Fund (KF) and another is Matthews Pacific Tiger (MAPTX).

While the Dow and Nasdaq sink these seem to hold.

Too bad, but one has to live and continue to earn.

I hope you enjoyed your burgers, but you must realize that the aftertaste will be extremely bitter.

Persons younger than I (thinking of children and grandchildren now) are going to find the going will be extremely tough as these following decades unfold.

You may or may not reflect back on your dinner this evening, but perhaps you will and then realize that the NWO has taken over your nation.

Hopefully there won't be too much gas in that CFR cola.

We have followed similar paths. Even at my age I continue to struggle because, after all, I have children and grandchildren that will indeed lose their freedoms within the next decade or so. The United Nations, God forbid, will be the "global" ruling body.

Before you say that you ought to look at the Charters for the Summit of the Americas the Organization of American States and the Council of the Americas.

Note that the president spoke at the Summit of the Americas in January, but I'll bet you don't know what he said there.

Note that his brother Jeb was in South America all last week lobbying to make Miami the headquarters for the FTAA once it is implemented next year.

Also note that the FTAA requires free movement of people in the hemisphere(open borders) downward harmonization of American wages to more closely match those of South American countries and "poverty reduction" which means taking US taxpayer dollars and giving it away to South America.

If this is all such lies, why isn't Bush denouncing the open border policy at the Summit of the Americas and at home? Why is his brother lobbying South America to allow Miami to become the headquarters of the FTAA?
