The Two And A Half Party System: A Call To Libertarians by Mac Johnson
The Libertarian party is a party of principle. This fact is an enormous comfort to the party each election year when its candidates lose every major race. Being free from the burden of mattering, we can all be proud of the purity of our untested principles. OK, it is a little harsh to say that the Party does not matter. After all, occasionally one of its candidates may, in a tight race, siphon off just enough votes from the least abominable candidate to push the more abominable one over the top and on to Washington! Husah!
At some point though, even the purist must wonder just what it might be like to actually put a Libertarian into office and see our principles put into action and law. If you are among the select group for whom principle alone is wearing thin, then please take a moment to indulge me in an immodest proposal to overhaul the movement's playbook just a little.

Nah, kids are kids, sometimes they grow up, but it's not a matter of pity for them, only patient expectation of some modest improvement as they age.
If only I knew what you knew, I could make the right choices!
Forgive my small mind for not being able to grasp your protopia.
LOL...Thanks for the humor!
You're forgiven. When you grow up, we'll chat a little more and I'll see if you can learn a few important things.
But, it's time for an adult beverage now and I really must go. ta ta for now.
You never used those phrases because you haven't figured out yet that that is how your world works. When you finally give some thought to how the world operates, if you have the ability to think for yourself, you will understand. If not, I will be happy to suggest some remedial reading for you that goes slow enough for beginners.
Ta ta for now.
Enjoy your beverage.
Later, Protopia. ;o
I had no idea we'd coronated you to set the rules of libertopia !
Silly me !
Read his profile. I'm surprised they let him out at all.
I don't want to discourage anyone from voting L, but have you looked at the Constitution Party? If I recall correctly, it pretty much mirrors the LP position of calling for drastic reduction in size of gov't while advocating a lot of conservative social views (blue laws, WOD, state-sponsored religious activities, etc).
Personally, I have a problem with the LP position on open borders & "free trade", but there's no way I could vote republicrat for the reasons you mentioned. The reason we've veered so far left as a nation is because most people vote for what they perceive as the lesser of two evils.
Vote for the people who most represent your views and values... if you do that, you exercised your right to vote in the way the founders of this nation intended us to, no matter what the "bushies" say
Im surprised they let you marry a 3rd time. You better make it work this time, or you will be dumped old and lonely in a decrepit nursing home where the orderlies will beat you and take your jewelry to the pawn shop.
As you rant about some fictional paradise called Libertopia.
Its best to make your vote count, why else be into politics?
A volunteer fire department would be one logical solution. There are certainly unincorporated areas in the US where neighbors have banded together to support such a function.
A second "libertopia" solution would be the one you suggest - contracting with a private company. And in libertopia, unless you owned the property free and clear, I imagine anyone financing or insuring a house would demand such a contract be prepaid as a condition of the loan or policy.
If you owned it free and clear you might dispense with it, but because libertopia's justice system would be based on restitution, if your neighbor's house was burned because of some action of yours, you might be working for your neighbor for a long time to restore him to wholeness.
Not only will I no longer consider the message, I will work against them.
What i said was uncalled for jimt, and im sorry.
I was going to send you a private mail instead saying the same, but decided that was too easy.
Im still against 3rd parties trying to divide the Republican base which could be enough votes to swing the election to the left imo.
Have you risked a headache checking on our adolescent "ashrak"? Lawdy, what a post it made tonight.
