Man, I hope this ain't the start of something we have all been dreading. This is not that surprising in Philly. That's why I no longer watch our local news.

Police are looking for anyone who saw someone speed off in the jeep. Prayers for that child and the family.

But, but...It's illegal to bring guns on school property.
"The way to prevent gun violence is to take guns out of the hands of criminals, not to put a gun to the head of honest gun owners. Rest assured, I will continue the fight for our constitutional freedoms."

Philadelphia has been hard hit of late. Over the weekend, a 9-year-old child was raped, strangled and beaten when she went to the bathroom at a center city library. She's still in critical condition, although she's out of intensive care and is stable. The homeless man who attacked stuffed her between the toilet and the wall when he was finished with her. I'm sick to death of these perps taking away the childhood of our children!

Can you imagine if radical islaminazis where to start randomly shooting our school kids on their way to school in lets say a dozen or so cities. Talk about chaos and terror.

Is the neighborhood that this happened in the "hood?" 2 to 1 odds its drug and/or gang related.

I'm getting my certification to teach and because of my age, I may have to teach in Philadelphia. My husband keeps asking me--are you SURE?

Interesting, no mention of the jeep being an SUV. I wonder how long before we see SUV mentioned in the news. And they will probably spin it like this.
" SUV shoots child and crossing guard outside of school."

Probably. It's a very rough neighborhood. But I've known very kind and nice people there too. There's thriving families there who desparately want the drugs to be OUT.

PHILADELPHIA - An 8-year-old boy was shot in the face in a school playground and a school crossing guard was wounded in the foot by gunfire Wednesday morning in North Philadelphia, police said.
The victims were apparently caught in the crossfire as two men began shooting at each other from separate cars just after 8:30 a.m., police department spokesman Cpl. Jim Pauley said.
The shooting occurred at 23rd and Cambria streets near the Pierce Elementary School, where the boy was standing in the schoolyard when he was shot, Pauley said.
The boy was taken to Temple University Hospital and was in "very critical" condition, Pauley said. The crossing guard was also hospitalized but her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
Pauley said that police were looking for a gray Lincoln Continental seen fleeing the area after the shootout.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
