[history]
'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

I give great credit to Pres Bush for not dragging out anyone, unlike Kerry who is using those veterans as props.

These are humble people. They don't use their service as a drum to beat for anything. To serve, in and of itself, is enough. That's why folks like Bob Dole, GHWB, GWB, etc. never overstated their service or used it as an election tool.
I am glad that someone finally spoke up. But there is a HUGE difference between John Kerry and the humble likes of COL. William Campenni. Vietnam Vets see it. Military folks see it. And we here on FR see.
This whole attack, foolishly engineered by Terry McAwful, will come back to haunt the Dems. Just wait and see.

I would like to see that too, but I don't think they are allowed to do it...they would have to be retired.

If somebody comes forward from Alabama, it would be much better. Already done. A former girlfriend has gone on public record saying Bush returned to Montgomery specifically to fulfill Guard requirements.

My favorite part??
While George W. Bush was protecting his country by serving in the Guard (1970, 71, 72), Kerry was off playing hate-America games with Hanoi Jane Fonda.
Somehow, we should turn that into a slogan.
