This was just the under-23 team. If I'm not mistaken, the U.S. National Team beat the Mexican team on a few occasions. Why are we only using the under-23's for Olympic competition?

This was just the under-23 team. If I'm not mistaken, the U.S. National Team beat the Mexican team on a few occasions. Why are we only using the under-23's for Olympic competition?

It's the Olympic rules because the world soccer regulating federation, FIFA, doesn't want the Olympic tournamnet to be a bigger tournament in stature than the World Cup.

Those are Olympic rules. All countries field only under 23 year olds for the Olympic football tourney. They can be professionals...
