SUV Crashes Into Home
Crash Knocks Resident To Ground
POSTED: 8:42 AM PST February 9, 2004 UPDATED: 11:07 AM PST February 9, 2004
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- An SUV crashed into a house in North Long Beach early Monday, badly damaging the structure and narrowly missing the room where a young girl was sleeping, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 1:40 a.m. Monday in the 6200 block of Obispo Avenue, said Long Beach police Officer Greg Schirmer.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was taken into custody. NBC4 learned that the driver was booked for driving under the influence.
The SUV came to rest inside the house, only inches away from the room where a mother and young daughter were sleeping. An inspection was planned to determine if the residence was safe to occupy, Schirmer said.
Resident Abbey Tugwell said that she was awake when the crash occurred.
"I saw the vehicle approaching at probably about 70 or 80 mph (with) screeching tires, and I knew that they weren't going to be stopping," Tugwell said.
"And I knew they were coming for the house, so I ran into the hallway, and the impact, itself, of the crash knocked me to the ground," Tugwell said. Neither she nor her 3-month-old daughter was hurt, Tugwell said.

An anonymous SUV. It wouldn't even disclose what brand it was.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was taken into custody I'm sure it was protective custody since he'll be used as a material witness against that homicidal SUV that committed this dastardly act.

Its going to be a matter of days before the liberals are going to demand a complete and total ban on SUVs!
I have visions of Ted Kennedy expounding on the evils of SUV's on C-SPAN, and Pelosi flanked by here usual gang of idiots in a press conference whining about killer SUVs that need to be stopped.
Daschle will inform us that he is deeply saddened...

Oh. I thought that was from Howard Dean's infamous speech. Under the assumption that you aren't saying that with a wink, Dean was referred to as "a prairie dog on speed" after that incident. I added the splat.

Evil SUV ping.
I wonder if this house was near any railroad tracks.

You can have a 'SUV News Alert' through Google News. With every 'SUV article', you get an email. I did it a while back and in two days I had about 20 articles about SUV's running amok and killing people. I had to end it, it was too much and getting really irritating.

I think it's time to create a SUV site in the vein of "Bert is Evil". Link to the real news articles with photoshopped pictures of SUVs in all sorts of evil situations.

Good thing the house wasn't a McMansion. Those are next on the liberal sh$#list. No one should live in a big house because they use too much energy and when they slide down a muddy hill, they crush little houses.
If an SUV and a McMansion collide, all bets are off as to who which one they'll hate more.
