Chichester must have sold the GOP mailing list to Warner. I got some marketing piece the other day called the "Fund for Virginia" or such. It was basically a velied attempt at enlisting support for more taxes to benefit the children i.e. schools. The board of directors was full of state dignitaries including Chichester and former Sen. Trible.

Republican does not mean conservative anymore. When winning is the only issue, you forget that these 'winners' will be doing stuff TO you for years afterwards.

Last month, Mr. Howell and another high-profile Republican opponent of the Warner tax increase, Attorney General Jerry Kilgore, asked former Reagan Office of Management and Budget chief James Miller to study the impact of the governor's tax proposals. According to Mr. Miller, they would cost Virginia $10 billion and close to 28,000 jobs. Arnold Schwarzenegger take note.
