Why Presisent Bush agreed to this interview in the first place is lost on me. He, or his advisors should have done this with Brit Hume, or someone of his political proclivitiesI see it a little differently. I saw the interview and re-read the transcript. I did not see a single question that won't be thrown about over and over in the coming campaign. This interview simply gave the President a chance to respond to the nation, where he won't necessarily have that opportunity later on. I think some of his answers were very well done, others a bit lacking.
President Bush is now in a campaign for re-election. He can't always confine himself to the safety of a Brit Hume. Sooner or later he must face the political enemies and realize that the seeker for a second term must defend the first term. The President doesn't have to worry about me; he's got my vote, but for many Americans, especially those independents who will make the difference this November, most of the questions posed today by Russert were fair game and require answers.

Okay, maybe this was a good test case, but based upon what I saw, the media is going to taunt and hammer him, and give the giggolo a free ride. Yes, Bush has to deal with them, but I predict possibly the bloodiest fight in the last 100 years.

I, too, think Russert's questions gave our good President and his advisors more insight into what's coming. I think Russert was just posing questions that have been thrown out by different factions.....including some RINO's. I do think he looked a bit windblown but that wasn't my focus. I think the President came across stronger, more confident at the end of the interview. He seemed too soft spoken when discussing the war/WMD. I hope the RNC et al will bring out factual past statements made by Clinton, Kerry and other Dems that show they believed Saddam had WMD. Read

where can i get the transcript of this morning's show? Though I saw the whole thing - and thought the President did very well - there's no denying that russert was stacked way left... and he's supposed to be one of the moderates out there.
