I heard that Anti-Vietnam War Kerry somehow (probably not purposely) lead the VC to what resulted in McCain's capture. Is this true? Are there an links to this story?

I doubt this.

If I recall correctly, McCain was fished out of a lake in Hanoi after being shot down in 1967 or so. The VC would have had no part in this, and Kerry didn't go VVAW until the early '70s.

There appears to be plenty of stuff to hang Kerry on without resorting to refutable items.
